I feel that smoking causes lung cancer, emphysema and myriad

respiratory problems. I have concluded that smokers are so

irrational and inconsiderate of my health that I have no desire to

know or relate to one, for any reason.

I stay out of smoky bars, restaurants and workplaces. I'm convinced

that this approach is the correct one, and may also apply to

drinkers, drug addicts, sugar frieks and fat junkies. . . which is

practically everybody in my town!!

As a raw foodist, I feel very alienated from advocates of the Western

diet and sedentary lifestyle. I'm also beginning to form the

conclusion that the subculture where I live is mentally, physically

and spiritually SICK!!!!! Or maybe the whole society!

Anybody else have these feelings?

Ron,

Don't focus so much on all that negativity! There are

some health minded people in Ft Worth, I'm sure. You

just don't know them yet. It doesn't matter what

everyone is else is doing, it only matters that you

make the improvements that you feel are important for

your health. It's always a little hard to be

different, but you have to do it for you and not worry

so much about what everyone else is doing. Yes, its

sad the way some people treat thier bodies, but the

way I see it is that everyone is at a different place

on their evolutionary path and it's not my place to

judge them. Try to be positive about what you are

doing and maybe you can be a positive influence on

people to improve their habits.

Thanks, Audrey, for the simple truth. My criticizing others doesn't

help anything or anybody. That seems to be a bad habit I picked up

in a dysfunctional family and I haven't outgrown it yet.

I vow to begin channeling some of that negativity into self-

improvement; starting with my food program, my job, my associates and

my career.
