Guest guest
There have been some raw foodists suggesting we take time off from fruits. David Wolfe suggests, for eliminating candida, tojust eat greens for two weeks. I decided to try just greens for a while. I can tell you that doing without fruits was horrible for me. I was tired and lacked energy. I felt so much better and had so much more energy with fruits, that it was a confirmation to me that fruits are meant to be a major component of the human diet. Eric made some good points. We are meant to eat fruits. While there may be some benefit to short periods off fruits, I actually have no attraction to such a diet. I love my fruits too much. Regarding low fat diets, I did feel quite well and had even more energy on a low fat diet (no avocados/coconuts/nuts/seeds/oils, etc.) Jeff

I ate a lot of tomotoes during that time, but did find that honeycomb and maple syrup did not bother me as they were absorbed before reaching the intestines. Also, what bothered me the most was the roughage from fruits, particularly apple skins. So I found I could even drink a little juice, which would be absorbed in the stomach. But if I drank a lot of juice, it was passed further on in the digestive tract and caused associated health problems. Guest guest
Ron, I find this interesting what you are saying here. It makes sense to me. I have been doing Phase 1 for about 4 months now and it has helped me to get rid of my candida and most of my acne. I think I want to start adding some fruits in again. What are some other fruits you could suggest as good 'starters'? I haven't had more than a piece of fruit (and this only occurred a couple of times) for these 4 months, and I don't want to undo all of the benefits that I have gained! I do notice that I have slightly lower energy levels than I did when I was eating mostly fruit back when I was first raw. Thanks! Any fruit that isn't sweet can be eaten without a candida reaction (eggplant, bell pepper, cucumber, zuchinni, etc.). When I started eating raw sweet fruit again, I found that I had the least reaction from eating berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries). Any fruit that doesn't have a lot of roughage worked well in moderation (kiwi fruit, figs, etc.). Apples and oranges have too much roughage and I avoided them. I eased into the fruit, I didn't eat very much sweet fruit at first and slowly increased. I hope you have been working to introduce the healthy intestinal bacteria back into the body, or else you will lose all the benefits you have gotten and the candida will get out of hand again.
