Good evening,

This opinon piece was in our local paper last Sunday.

http://www.dominionpost.com/a/edit/2004/01/11/ac/ It runs along the lines of

the one that was linked here last week. Please feel free to contact the author

with your response. The author can be reached at: lowry

His general slant seems to be that because we can use chemicals, GMO's and other

synthetic methods for raising production we should without question or

forethought and anybody who says otherwise is an hysteric.

Be aware that the Hudson Institute cited in this article is a conservative think

tank funded in part by agribiz. Their founder, Herman Kahn, was a firm believer

in the " winability " of nuclear war and was the person on whom the character in

Dr. Strangelove was based. They are also the driving force behind the " Center

For Global Food Issues " www.cgfi.org (their bogus slogan is " Growing More Per

Acre Leaves More Land For Nature " ) which actively attacks organic farming,

promotes the use of hormones, pesticides, genetic engineering, etc. Watch out

for these guys when you see them mentioned in news articles, press releases,

etc. They carry a heavy dose of aribiz propaganda.
