Guest guest
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the crazy and totally incorrect stuff she said at the seminar. At the beginning of the seminar when she was playing the tape of her making soup, she said on the tape that she strains what she blends, because that way she can absorb most of the nutrients in he rmouth and throat when she drinks. You can't absorb any nutrition in your mouth or throat. She also said that people who eat cooked food produce 2 gallons of digestive juices per day. Two gallons??? This is clearly impossible. No one even drinks near that amount of water let alone produces that much digestive juices. But I have to say the kicker was when she said that Russian scientists had proven you can change your DNA through prayer?!?!?!?! That they put blood in a dish, prayed and then checked the DNA and it was different. No one seemed to react when she said any of these things other than by saying oooohhh and I was wondering if the people at the seminar where just being polite or actually believed her. Guest guest
I should really do some armchair research before responding to this but unarmed with hard cold facts here are some things to consider even though I was not at this workshop: - We do absorb nutrients through our mouth: some times my naturopath gives remedies that are purposely held in the mouth for a period of time to allow for the absorption of certain nutrients that are less easily absorbed in the stomach and intestines, for instance, vit. B-12 is one and other vitamins, but there are many other elements as well. - Since we are, what is it? 96%?, or whatever, water, I suppose it would be possible even in a lightweight, possible to produce 2 gallons of whatever fluids per day, whether or not we drink 2 gallons or much less, of water per day. So I guess it is possible we could sometimes be producing 2 gallons of digestive juices per day, whether or not we do. - And the thing about prayer and DNA, where have you been to not realize that this could be true? Anything is possible with prayer and in my own personal experience only limited or expanded by my lack or presence of faith. - One thing I know is that most people have a lot of respect for the Boutenko's, and know that when Victoria makes a statement it is usually backed up with some pretty good facts. I'm sure that if you were to email her directly, she would be able to supply you with sources that might answer your questions. This would probably be a better forum to air your doubts. Guest guest
Good morning, I don't wish to cast any aspersions at Victoria, nor do I wish for anyone else to. But I usually do get a second opinion on anything I hear from her before making life-changing decisions. I do the same with anyone actually. She is a fabulously inspirational speaker, partly because she tells great stories. These stories may have changed in telling or lost something in translation, like anyone else's stories. If you do find that she has said something that you know to be different the first person to tell is her - not the list. Guest guest
Interesting. I think part of the problem may be linguistics, culture, and or personal beliefs. No biggie. Even if her comments are completely false, this should not impact your empirical understanding and using raw foods. Relax. - panantukan23 RawSeattle Wednesday, February 25, 2004 11:14 PM [RawSeattle] Boutenko Weirdness I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the crazy and totally incorrect stuff she said at the seminar.
