The way to get around that is to grind up your seeds and nuts in a

seed mill and then put them in the Vita-mix.

That's not too practical for me, though I do grind nuts and seeds on

occasion. I have simple kitchen blenders that do a great job of

blending nuts and seeds in liquids. It's just my old Vita-Mix that is

not as efficient with those mixes. The other blenders just don't have

as much power, though they can do a lot! I have an interest in a new

blender and am considering the K-tec and Vita-mix, so am curious how

the two compare when it comes to blending nuts and seeds in smoothies

and sauces.

The Vita-mix has a safety device which shuts itself off if you put it

under too much of a load. I've used the Vita-mix and can attest to this

safety device's effectiveness. I've never used a K-Tec but have heard

it does not have this feature.

And it would be pretty hard to beat Vita-mix technical support. " Hi,

the bottom of my blade seems to be leaking oil. " " Okay, sir, I'll have

a new blade in the mail to you tomorrow morning. Goodbye. " I kid you

not!
