Guest guest
There is a comparison chart at www.discountjuicers.com. It compares the VitaMix (which I have & love, but I agree that it is a bit more difficult to clean than ideally, and I haven't tried the others) with the K-Tec and a couple of others. The Green Star is definitely a juicer. I have the Green Life, which is the predecessor of the Green Star. It is similar in function to the Champion, but it does greens, which the Champion does not. I have had some trouble with cracking, but with the long warranty it has, I had no trouble getting the parts replaced free of charge. On the same website, there is also a juicer comparison chart. I have found that helpful in narrowing down my choices for different products. As a 3-year raw fooder, I have found regular uses for the different functionalities of a good-quality blender, a food processor, and a juicer. I found that if I tried to do a blender-type function in a food processor, I usually ended up with the liquid all over the wall and counter, quite a mess. A blender is good for smoothies, but to get the juice for the base of that smoothie, a juicer is needed. When I first changed over to the raw diet, I did have to spend some money " coming up to speed " on equipment. But once you've made that initial investment, if you invest in high-quality equipment, they will last a long time. Sue
Guest guest
Jeff, I have used the Vita-mix only a couple of times, but I've had my K- Tec for about a year and have used it extensively. The K-Tec homogenizes extremely well. No grit, very smooth. We make Tahini dressing using sesame seeds (not prepared tahini), nut milks, smoothies with or without frozen fruit, butternut squash soup, etc., all of which come out with a wonderfully smooth texture and no surprises. Hope that helps, Tina > > What I'd like to know is, which blends better???
Guest guest
Tina, Thanks for the info. That's what I was looking for. Did you use the Vita-Mix for similar foods? Guest guest
I used the Vita-Mix at a friend's house a couple of times for smoothies only. Can't really compare them well, but there you have it. Tina Did you use the > Vita-Mix for similar foods? >
