Guest guest
If anywhere, it would seem that India would have some examples of long lived raw vegans, since so many people there are vegetarian. I once read a book about a man called Shivapuri Baba, who supposedly lived to age 137. Unfortunately, I no longer have the book, titled Long Pilgrimage, by John Bennett. Here is a picture of him at age 112. http://www.hornyforgod.com/new_releases/new_release_shv.html And here is a passage from a web page which claims he was a raw fooder. I don't know if he was vegan his whole life, but this passage indicates that he was till age 50, at least: http://www.seedcuisine.com/benefits.php " One of the most famous and well-documented cases of longevity resulting from a raw food diet was that of Shivapuri Baba, who lived to be 137 years old. At the age of 50, after living in the forest in India on just raw roots and tubers for 30 years, he went on a 35-year, world walking tour. He spent time with different spiritual, cultural, and political leaders, including four years with Queen Victoria in England. Born in 1826, he died in 1963. It was said that he ate raw foods up until a few years before his death, when he began to accept the cooked food of his visitors. According to first-hand accounts, at this point he began to lose his vitality and age noticeably. " Mark Hi Annette, Making it to your 70s is not all that impressive. The average life expectancy of Americans is around 77. The Japanese, Australians and a few others have a life expectancy of around 80. As Nazariah says, where are the 90 or 100 year old raw vegans? It seems there was another older gentleman interviewed in Paul Nison's book ....
