Guest guest
Viola - what is your bin made of? We've had a worm bin for many years and the poor little critters can't keep up with our volume and there is usually something moldy on the top, but after a while the whole thing disappears. Ours is made of wood. At one time we had a large plastice green thing from the county and it did nothing but rot and stink. The worms never seemed to want to stick around for long in that one. Speaking of worms I seem to be low on them this year for some reason. Can I just go into a field at the end of the block and dig up some worms? Or are compost worms specific? Guest guest
It’s made of black plastic. It doesn’t stink, unless I smell it very close. I found on internet that molds are normal in compost: http://compost.css.cornell.edu/microorg.html But we had a pile of leaves on the ground without any container, it didn’t have any molds on it, and it had a lot of worms in it.
