Guest guest
Hello all, I am able to get fresh, raw durians at a case price of *only* $5.50 per pound. I'd like to buy a case but I'd prefer to have somebody split it with me, or find 2 other people who want a single fresh durian. This is a very good price, and an extremely rare opportunity, as almost everyone tells me it is 'illegal' to bring fresh durians in to Washington (although I haven't been able to confirm this from reliable sources), so apparently somebody is bending the rules. Feel free to email privately. Thanks! Nora nmlenz
Guest guest
Nora, I'm a little far to come over and split a durian (or a case) but if your source knows of someplace on the East coast please let me know. Thank you. Guest guest
Nora, I'm sure they aren't organic, right? Do you know for sure about whether they've been irradiated (cooked+) or not? Thanks, Eric+
Guest guest
I've been thinking about the enormous difference in price between fresh and frozen. While I have had some wonderful fresh durian, I have also had some amazing thawed-frozen durian. Some of the frozen ones have been better tasting than some of the fresh. I havened noticed any dramatic changes in how I have fealt after consuming a fresh vs. frozen durian. As my budget is now considerably tighter than it had been, if I were to purchase another durian, I'd probably just get a frozen one at 1/8 the cost. Has anone consistantly fealt better eating fresh vs. frozen durians? Has anyone consistantly tasted better fresh vs. frozen durians? Guest guest
Eric, I haven't asked but I'm 100% certain they're not organic. I don't know whether they are irradiated. I'm sure whatever is done to them is similar to what other imported tropical fruits are subjected to. Nora ericscottfarris wrote: > Nora, > > I'm sure they aren't organic, right? Guest guest
<<<Has anone consistantly fealt better eating fresh vs. frozen durians? Yes, although I do notice slight after-effects if I eat a fresh one that is not good. <<<Has anyone consistantly tasted better fresh vs. frozen durians? No. Like you, I've had very good frozen and crappy fresh. Although when the fresh ones are good, nothing can match them.
