Guest guest
I'm looking to form a group to explore voluntary simplicity and to work through the book " Your Money or Your Life " by Vicki Robins and Joe Dominguez. I was thinking a once a month meeting with a vegan potluck would be good. Since a number of veg*ns go veg to reduce their impact on the earth and that is a goal of voluntary simplicity, I thought there might be some interested folks in this group. I'd like to limit the group to 10-12 people for cohesion. I am also thinking that this group should be led by collective consensus or rotating facilitator versus fixed leadership. Please email me if you are interested, along with some good weekend dates for September or October. If there is enough interest, I'll set up a to facilitate discussion. If you would like more information about Your Money or Your Life or voluntary simplicity go to: http://www.simpleliving.net/default.asp Thanks! Guest guest
I'm so glad the topic of simple living was brought up in this group. Thanks, Nicole! It is so relevent to veg*nism and a local vegan group would be great to have. I recently read Simple Living With Children, which spoke so powerfully to me. I plan to read Your Money or Your Life, too. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like simple living brings veg*nism into the forefront of the conversation (though I don't know for sure yet). For those considering going vegetarian or vegan, simple living is a wonderful place to start (in terms of exploring core beliefs about the environment, cultural traditions, ownership of " stuff " and how all that effects animals). Perhaps most people in this group are already on a simple living path! ~Caity
Guest guest
" Your Money or Your Life " is one of my favorite books - a great guide to helping you understand which way your life is headed, and how to help yourself get on the right track in many ways. The last section about investing is pretty much universally acknowledged as bad advice these days, and even Dominguez himself had quite a few years of lean living based on that plan. But just disregard that chapter, and the rest is a wonderful book. -Kim On Mon, 25 Aug 2003, grrlburn wrote: > I'm looking to form a group to explore voluntary simplicity and to > work through the book " Your Money or Your Life " by Vicki Robins and > Joe Dominguez. I'm accessible by transit and am happy to pick up people from BART. Also, I'm right off 580. If another location is best for the majority of the group, I'm open, though I prefer not to trek to most of Marin or Sonoma counties.
