Hey all,

I don't like pitting restaurants against each other, nor do I want to

" diss " a vegetarian restaurant, being they are so few and far

between. But....I must say that just because we're vegetarians, should

mean we have to put up with subpar service.

Flash - looks like " The Bay Leaf Cafe " is for sale - as evidenced by below

recent post. If anyone knows any restaurateurs - it would be great to keep

the place veggie!! Wonder if any knows owners of Herbivore? They'd be a

great proprietor.

Experience at Saravana Bhavan

We were seated by 7:00 pm - they graciously allowed us to reserve 20 spots

for 15 minutes - something they normally don't do.

We had all ordered by 7:10 pm, by 7:20 pm - all 15 of us had our meals.

This is what I call great service. I've never had to wait over 5 minutes

for a meal I was served there. Additionally, they continually filled water

glasses.

Experience at The Bay Leaf Cafe

By contrast, at The Bay Leaf Cafe - we got there by 7:00 pm, ordered by

7:05 pm - the last person, yours truly, got his dinner at 8:00 pm.

Additionally, they ran out of 2 out of the 3 specials and left water

glasses empty for 5-10 minutes at time - My definition of bad service. I

don't believe these folks are meant to run a restaurant.

I was sorry to hear that some people's experience at the Bay Leaf

Cafe was mixed. I have been going there about once a month for a

year and have never had bad service. Infact, I am always telling my

non-vegan friends about how unbelievably good their vegan quesadillas

are.

But it is no secret they are having hard times. Somebody broke a

large window of theirs, and their espresso machine is down.

I would encourage people to make up their own minds about Bay Leaf

and Saravana Bhavan.

If people have to go out of their way to publicly criticize a

restaurant. I would suggest that people do it based on more than

just one bad experience. I have had a couple of bad experiences at

Herbivore, usually it's just because they are just really busy.

Certanly nothing to write home about.

I would encourage people to make up their own minds about Bay Leaf

and Saravana Bhavan. I don't know how easily (or fairly) they can be

compaired though. Saravana Bhavan is NOT entirly vegan like Bay

Leaf, and I don't know weather Saravana Bhavan is committed to

serving only organic food like Bay Leaf. Bay Leaf is also a very

small restaurant that might be overwelmed by a party of 20.

Also, if people have to go out of their way to publicly criticize a

restaurant. I would suggest that people do it based on more than

just one bad experience. I have had a couple of bad experiences at
