Guest guest
I think that people should eat at restaurants offering vegan alternatives. It is better to consider small, independent food restaurants before spending your money in fast food chains. Industrial farming and fast food go hand in hand. With this being the case, the fast food industry has a long, long way to go before it gets my endorsement. Guest guest
I always wonder if the beans are refried with lard and if the flour tortilla is made with lard, does anyone know? Guest guest
From Vegetarian Resource Group: " Are Taco Bell's beans made with lard? A recent article in the Seattle Times had vegetarians concerned when it stated that Taco Bell's refried beans contained lard. We received several emails and calls from individuals wondering if this was true. Many people referred to our Guide to Fast Food, which states the opposite. We called Taco Bell's nutritionists to check on the story. They confirmed in writing that their beans do not contain any lard, and that they would consider it a step backward to add it. They also said that the chicken broth in their seasoned rice has been replaced with vegetarian broth due to customer requests. Guest guest
Which products at Taco Bell are halal? Posted by Shahed on 2004-01-04 Amna, a General Manager for a Taco Bell restaurant, has written us to inform us that Taco Bell is a very safe place for Muslims to eat, as long as certain products are avoided. Stay away from anything deep fried (fries, apple pies, etc.) as the pies are made w/lard and fried in the same fryer as everything else. She states that cheese " does not contain any rennet or pepsin (pig proteins) " and that " bacon is kept away from other items " and not prepared in the store. Vegetarian items such as bean burritos and 7-layer burritos are fine. " I wanted to clarify this issue with you, since there would be many of us who would feel guilty of having eaten at Taco Bell previously, " says Amna. " Taco Bell is an extremely safe restaurant for Muslims. Guest guest
They closed the Taco Bell in the burbs near me several years ago. I have no idea where the closest one is anymore, except for the ones in the malls. Usually when I want a quick lunch I just grab something from one of the big supermarkets around here. The salad bars are usually pretty nice (except for iceberg lettuce, blah!). Jen I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe - I believe what I believe is right. - George W. Guest guest
Hello, When I worked at Taco Bell back in the mid-1980s, they made their own taco and tostada shells and salad shells...and maybe even their own tortilla chips...and they deep-fried those. Things may have changed since then, however. Guest guest
I don't know for sure. But once was enough for me. I got a bean burito there, once! Let's just say, it made my digestive system lubricated. :^( GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote:I always wonder if the beans are refried with lard and if the flour tortilla is made with lard, does anyone know? Most places anymore deal with this since so many people are cutting fats and what not... You know you have to watch for lard in pie crusts too?!! ick..
