I couldn't find anything on the PETA site (and emailed them to post it) or IDA site, and didn't see anything in the story about who locally was spear-heading this bill. Thanks, Kasie

Per lauren at VIVA: "The sponsors of the bill (Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights, Farm Sanctuary, LA Lawyers for Animals and Viva!USA) will let you know when it is time to mobilize." See: /message/6448 The news story on TV (last week) was very good... they really emphasized how cruelly the animals are fed.. and at one pont, they mentioned that if they weren't slaughtered, they would die from the overfeeding. There were also statements made by lauren @ VIVA and Teri Barnato from AVAR. I think you'll probably see more info on SFBAVEG when it's time for letters & phone calls! BAARN is also a good list for people who want to hear the activist stuff. And, joining VIVA's own mailing list will guarantee getting the info in a timely manner! Guest guest
The bill will be covered in our weekly email California legislative alerts. To , contact vhandley with your snail mail address. The alert will give hearing dates and committee members. I had suggested to the groups to approach Burton because he had introduced a bill in Congress years ago to ban the importation of pate de fois gras into the US.
