Guest guest
After scouring the shelves of Bay Area stores and reading copious amounts of labels, I have located a source! It's actually not a bar but a ball called the *HEALTHY HAZELNUT *Full Power Low-Carb Energy Ball made by Betty Lou's in Oregon. It's got 4g of effective carbs. The owner is a 25-year vegan and many of her products are as well (a lot of the protein-rich stuff has whey). I have yet to try the balls, but will be placing an order on their online store and will report back on its merits. Guest guest
If we're talking good bars.... here's one company that's doing things right. Plenty of green living plants and veggies. No Soy, low fat, and 100% organic. And... to be different, low protein. Not every carb is bad after all! http://www.healthcocanada.com/products.htm You can get the ReBar's at Whole Foods, Berkeley Natural Foods and the Bowl. Off the web site you can get their two other bars, one is the Grain and Greens which is the best. Has a bit more protein, and isn't high in fat or fillers. The other is soy based, but is more healthy than those candy bards you get from Cliff and PowerBar. - chuck > After scouring the shelves of Bay Area stores and reading copious > amounts of labels, I have located a source! Guest guest
HEY! as an employee of Clif Bars, I want to set the record straight on our products! We are 70% organic. We source our ingredients, in some cases, all the way back to the primary source. Our nutrition profile is backed by a University glycemic study conducted to assess the protein, carb & fat ratio to maximize energy. We have a Registered Dietician on staff who answers phone calls to assist consumers in understanding our ingredients and nutrition profile. 1-800-884-5254 ask for Tara DelloIacono. We also have won several significant environmental, green business and workplace awards. Heck, we are even independently owned and operated by a native Californian. Candy Bars we are not! I haven't tried them recently, and here's why. A few years ago, after trying all of them, the only one I liked at all was the Apricot, and then the recipe changed and it, too, became way too sweet to be palatable to me. I tried a Luna bar and was grossed out by the candy coating. I haven't bought any Clif products since then, because it seemed the products were being formulated (or reformulated) to appeal to a different palate. To me (someone who doesn't like cake and candy), they are candy bars. If there are any plans to make less-sweet products, I'd be willing to give your products another try. Guest guest
For my tastes, nearly everything Clif Bars makes, especially the line of Luna Bars, is delicious. I'm not concerned with whether they are considered energy bars, candy bars, or meal substitutes. I like having something sweet after a meal, and appreciate that the whole line is vegan and that the company makes an effort to be a green business, is local, and uses organic ingredients whenever possible. All praises to Clif and the gang!
