Rainbow grocery stocks good and reasonably priced vegan birthday cakes in their refridgerated goodie section. We got the all chocolate one for my birthday in January. My very non-vegetarian family could not believe it was vegan which was a major plus in my books. Also Maggie Mudd has a vegan ice cream cake that you need to order ahead of time. Although I like their icecream I've never tried their cake.

I would be curious if Maggie Mudds was an entirely Vegan company...and if not do they used dedicated equipment??? Do they have disclaimers printed on their finished product if not?

Also, I got a bad stomach ache (colon ache too) after eating a Peasant pie, specifically the Spicy Eggplant Olive Tomato. I know they are not a company that is entirely Vegan and unless they use dedicated equipment they have tainted food. If they don't use dedicated equipment then they should put it on the label " Processed on shared equipment that uses meat and other animal products " . Which means it is truly not Vegan.

Thanks!

maggie mudds isn't an entirely vegan company. they serve cow ice cream as

well. while disclaimers wouldn't hurt, i think one look past their store

front would tell you everything you need to know.

also, they are constantly expanding their vegan offerings, so as a

community, they definitely deserve our support.

Thanks everyone for sharing about vegan birthday cakes. Maggie Mudd's

probably makes my mouth water the most, but wouldn't survive

tomorrow's two-hour trip to the valley : | It'll probably be Rainbow

(thanks to you guys) if they have something chocolatey, or Juicy

Lucy's (also thanks to you guys), although Juicy Lucy's is made with

sugar, which, although raw, I still try to stay away from. (No

offense intended to sugar eaters : )

Hi, everyone. I live in Mountain View. Does anyone know of any places in the Mountain View/ Sunnyvale area where one could purchase a vegan cake?

Thanks, Vic

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it already, but I always get our birthday

cakes from Black China Bakery by way of Whole Foods.

Whole Foods almost always has a few vegan cakes in stock, but if you

want writing on them, you have to order it in advance (one week seems ot

be plenty of time). I even got a vanilla sheet cake for my sojn's

birthday--YUM! My personal favorite is the mocha cake, though--decadent!!!

I concur with Josh's opinion. Black China cakes are

truly sublime, especially the double-layered chocolate

variety. A German chocolate variant is also available.

They also make cupcakes. The German chocolate cake and

chocolate cupcakes are often available the Herbivore

restaurant (both locations) in San Francisco and also,

I believe, at Rainbow Grocery in SF.

With best wishes,

Tor Neilands
