Guest guest
Hi, I want to organize a dinner for a friend's birthday and want to get people's feedback on these two restaurants. I've never been to either. I know they are both nice veg*n restaurants in the city, but which one is better for this kind of event? It will be a group of us. Thanks! ~Kristy
Guest guest
i much prefer Millennium. while the view of the marina is lovely at Greens, it is one of the least vegan friendly vegetarian restaurants i've ever been to. if i recall correctly, they even use butter in the rice. if you and your friends are vegetarian rather than vegan, this may not be a problem for you. i also find that the level of creativity and quality of food are much higher at Millennium. that, of course, is completely subjective. both have large dining areas and can accomodate large parties. be sure to call for a reservation in advance. Guest guest
Hands down ... Millennium. Better selection of food and 100% vegan. Agree that Greens has the view, but Millennium is true 5 star dinning. Plus with the full bar, vegan wines and wonderful service how can you go wrong. Greens seems a bit price for what you get, and I'd choose Herbivore as a second choice. - chuck May 4, 2004, at 3:32 PM, Steve Simitzis wrote: > i much prefer Millennium. while the view of the marina is lovely at > Greens, it is one of the least vegan friendly vegetarian restaurants > i've ever been to. if i recall correctly, they even use butter in the > rice. if you and your friends are vegetarian rather than vegan, this > may not be a problem for you. > > i also find that the level of creativity and quality of food are much > higher at Millennium. that, of course, is completely subjective. > > both have large dining areas and can accomodate large parties. be sure > to > call for a reservation in advance. > > On 05/04/04, powellkristy <powellkristy wrote: > >> Hi, >> >> I want to organize a dinner for a friend's birthday and want to get >> people's feedback on these two restaurants. Guest guest
What others have said supports my "generalization" of the two restaurants .... -Folks who are consistently vegetarian or vegan like Millennium. -Folks who eat primarily vegetarian with meat on occasion like Greens. In the various restaurant contests held by Bay Area Vegetarians, Veg News, VegDining.Com, Millennium came out a clear winner in all three. The veg tribe has spoken :-) So, if you're looking for a truly great dining experience, I'd vote for Millennium over Greens everytime. Hmm, I'd prefer Millennium to Greens on a food level. As for parking it would be Greens. I personally like the food at Millennium for it's always cutting edge and there is always something that gets the whole table saying: " Oooooooh and Ahhhhhhhhh and Hmmmmmmm that's good " -- Bill Schoolcraft PO Box 210076 San Francisco CA 94121 http://billschoolcraft.com
Guest guest
I vote for Millennium as well. One caveat - their specialty mixed (alcoholic) drinks are... well, they could be better. We went out with another couple and all ordered a different drink, and ended up debating whose was the worst. We even sent one back that was just undrinkable, and picked something else off the menu, which was equally terrible. Try the wine list instead. :-) And definitely save room for dessert! -Kim On Tue, 4 May 2004, powellkristy wrote: > Hi, > > I want to organize a dinner for a friend's birthday and want to get > people's feedback on these two restaurants. Guest guest
I hate to cast doubt on any veg/an enterprise but my wife and I ate at Millennium last Saturday and it was wonderful but I actually had all the symptoms of food poisoning starting about 4 hours afterwards. It may have possibly been bad wine they served but I was down hard, and even though there is a chance it may have been something else I won't eat there again. --- Kim Flournoy <kim wrote: > I vote for Millennium as well.
