Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thanks so very much for all of the calls and words of support for the rabbits who House Rabbit Society and East Bay Animal Advocates volunteers pulled out of a terrible cruelty situation ... over thirty rabbits were rescued from a feces- and corpse-filled yard. As an update, all rabbits remaining at Hayward Animals Services will be transferred into HRS's care by Friday, May 27. All of the rabbits need veterinary care, from tumor and abscess removal to treatment of infections to spays and neuters. Donations for their medical care are urgently needed! Please visit http://rabbit.org/rabbit-center/hayward_rabbits.html for more information and to donate to the medical fund. The Alameda County District Attorney's office is scheduled to receive the rabbit cruelty case during the week of June 1. Please contact Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff and politely urge him to seek jail time for the abusers, and more importantly, mental health counseling and permanent prohibition from keeping animals. Cruelty to animals is a punishable and serious offense. Based on the statements of witnesses, rabbit health records, and photographic documentation, the rabbits were clearly being abused. Please take a moment to write a letter on the behalf of the more than thirty rabbits rescued from this horrific situation … rabbits who, without your voice, have no means to ask for justice. It is extremely important that the DA's office hear from concerned people in this case.
