Thanks for posting this important reminder about the upcoming state legislation to ban foie gras and the sample letter (see below) to send to our Assemblyperson. I wanted to add a little bit more info:IF YOU LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO-DALY CITY-COLMA, and live in the districts represented by Leland Yee (Daly City, Colma, SF) or Mark Leno (SF), it would be especially helpful if you write since they both sit on the Assembly Business and Professions Committee (which must pass the bill out of that committee before it gets to the full Assembly)Assembly Business and Professions Committee: Assemblyman Lou Correa, Chair. Other committee members are: Assembly Members Shirley Horton (Vice Chair), Greg Aghazarian, Rudy Bermudez, Ellen Corbett, Paul Koretz, Mark Leno, Abel Maldonado, Bill Maze, Joe Nation, Gloria Negrete Mcleod, Juan Vargas, and Leland Yee.How to find your Assembly person:http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html

Rose Lernberg & Virginia Handley who do legislative alerts for the Fund for Animals recommend writing your Assemblyperson and the committee chair (Lou Correa).

The practice ofshoving a long, metal pipe down a bird's throat three or four timesa day is extremely cruel. The birds often literally explode orbecome so weak that they cannot defend themselves from rats thatchew on their wounds. Please support this bill andhelp us show that California is against animal abuse. Thank you verymuch,

Is it worth it to show up for the actual vote - to show in-person support in addition to letters/phone calls?? If so, is anyone planning on going?

It is absolutely important for people to go for the vote. At the Senate

hearing, each member of the audience got to go up, say who they were and

if they supported the bill.
