When I think " Coffee Shop, " I think coffee, I think open in the

morning. However the new Vegetarian (mostly raw) restaraunt is in

fact only open 1pm - 9pm Wed - Sun. It would have been nice if they

had printed this on their cards that they gave out at VeggieFest.

Or had thier hours posted at their place of business. This brings

up a new point, that the restaruant has changed hours and days open

since it opened in April of this year, only 2 months ago. So fellow

veggies, be forewarned: call ahead. Otherwise you might drive

across town to find yourself standing on the sidewalk hungry, as I

did. (I ended up taking my business to the nearby Greens for a

scrumptious vegan stew over polenta).

I was impressed with the new " Urban Forage " on Valencia St, between 16th

and 17th Streets. Plenty of vegan and raw dishes. No meat served there.

Oh, the above is in San Francisco.

Despite their unusual hours and misleading name, I've

had two great meals at Lombard Coffee Shop and

recommend the place. The food is fresh and well

prepared, the portions are generous and attractively

presented, and the service is friendly. Unfortunately,

the restaurant was empty on both of my visits and I

wonder how they're able to stay in business if that's

typical. It would be a real disappointment to see

another quality veg/raw restaurant disappear for lack

of clientele.

For a new food establishment in a speciality niche like this I'd think

that they would have standard hours, I too have gone there on half a dozen

occassions only to find it closed.

Cafe Gratitude opened with hours of 7am-9pm Mon-Sat, brunch 10-2pm Sun.

That would have make life much easier for us at the Lombard Coffee Shop.

Or something easy to remember like 10-6, M-F; 10-10 Sat-Sun. I'm sure you

get my idea. We could use ALL the raw food places we can get.

I really wish them well for I too have had a great meal there with my wife

one evening when they had their grand opening.
