Guest guest
I recently dined at the new location of Urban Forage on Valencia and was extremely disappointed. The decor was welcoming and conducive to a long visit, but the food was over priced and inedible. I ordered a manwich, a side salad, and a side of sweet potato fries. The portions and prices were not equal to either the low quality of the food or the plate presentation. I paid for my food after two bites and left. Mail is new and improved - Check it out! Guest guest
interesting, i *love* the new urban forage location. i would go as far as to say that it's a near perfect vegan cafe. (the only thing i would do differently is serve brunch every day, not just weekends.) in my experience, the quality of their food has been consistently of high quality, using fresh and organic produce. on the other hand, i could see how some people might not like their recipes, as many of their dishes use unconventional ingredients (like hemp milk and dulse). but, to each their own. if you don't like their burgers, their bean pots are excellent. Guest guest
Not to be too naive here, but how can a side salad and sweet potato be so bad you didn't finish it? Why only a few bites if it was so small? Seems like a waste? - chuck On Jun 23, 2004, at 11:38 PM, Joshua Eisenberg wrote: > I recently dined at the new location of Urban Forage on Valencia and > was extremely disappointed. I thought the new Urban Forage was GREAT, been there a few times to try different dishes. Food was priced well and one could eat there on a regular basis, unlike Roxanne's. Due to the prices at Roxanne's. I've been recommending both Urban Forage & Cafe Gratitude. Now that the Lombard Coffee shop has updated their hours we should be seeing some reviews from there too. -- Bill Schoolcraft PO Box 210076 -o) San Francisco CA 94121 /\ " UNIX, A Way Of Life. Guest guest
I believe you Joshua, but just wanted to add my own limited experience eating there. The seaweed salad I got for a takeout lunch was incredible, I thought, and inspired me to imitate it at home. I've been addicted to it since. The menu describes a dressing of almond butter and miso. So I just soak some hijiki or arame, and mix some miso and almond butter with a little warm water and dashes of Bragg's Liquid Aminos and Apple Cider Vinegar. I add some reconstituted sliced shiitake mushrooms. This is so filling and hearty, I can't recommend it enough. Their version was great. I wasn't as impressed with the soba noodle soup, it's just a clear broth with some noodles and a sprinkling of a couple of other things, can't remember. Not memorable, I make better at home, imo. My co-worker loves some of the dishes she's gotten there, can't remember which ones.
