Guest guest
I hope this isn't against the guidelines to post this, but I don't know who else to ask. I have been wearing converse for years and recently, they have started to hurt my feet. So, I have put back on my old adidas that I had purchased before going veg and they are so comfortable! I don't feel right about wearing them since they were made with cow, so I have been trying to find a veg shoe that is as comfortable. I am having a really hard time finding something within my budget. Can anyone please help? I found a company that has a lot of shoes that seem veg, but the pair I was looking at said leatherette trim. Does anyone know what leatherette is? They are constructed from all man-made materials. Like many cheap non-leather shoes, they are made in China, in case that is a concern. Also check out Otsu at http://www.veganmart.com/. I got a great pair of microfiber loafers there, and a belt that says on the inside " Genuine Non-Leather " . :-) - Julie -- Julie Bernstein | http://funcrunch.livejournal.com/
Guest guest
Many of you may already know this, but China is one of the worst offenders for abuses against animals. They are incredibly cruel. Personally, I boycott Chinese products as much as I can. In the case of shoes, I guess one must pick their own poison. Guest guest
in addition to not purchasing animal products, i also boycott china. i realize that cheap made in china shoes have traditionally come to the rescue of vegans seeking to replace leather, but supporting chinese goods is just as bad. in addition to their human rights abuses, their treatment of the environment is awful. you're basically trading one catastrophe for another. for more information - http://www.boycottmadeinchina.org/en/why_boycott/rationale/introduction/ i would also like to recommend otsu vegan style: http://veganmart.com/ they have a store in san francisco, or you can order online. all of their products are 100% vegan, and they are also against supporting products that use sweatshops and slave labor. humans are animals too! Guest guest
indeed, it is difficult to avoid buying made in china. rainbow grocery, despite being an oasis for vegetarian products and support for good businesses, is packed with made in china products in their kitchen department. when confronted about it, their response was " we simply wanted to provide products for the best possible prices " . i was disappointed.
