Guest guest
Hello, Last week I happened to go to Herbivore restaurant with my friend (the one close to Mission and 21st st) -- I noticed that there was a free magazine stand with lot of vegetarian starter kit booklets. The bright green color stand was clearly noticeable and it looks really cool. I was thinking of sponsoring such few stands in some places close to where I live. Does any one know what is involved in setting up such free magazine stands in public street corners along with other news stands ? like any special permissions that we need to get from local authorities? any rental amounts that needs to be paid to local county, etc ? Regards, thava

I would also like to look into sponsoring a couple around my neighborhood (Oakland/Berkeley border). Please let us all know what info you find out... I'll ask around too, and I'll check out the ones at Herbivore next time I'm there. -Florencia

There are quite a few of these stands around SF that Nora Kramer and Gabe Quash have established. The structure and booklets are provided by PETA. I think it merely involved applying for a permit from the city (not sure if there was a cost) Maybe Gabe will post the details to let folks know, or interested folks can contact Gabe at gabequash What's weird is.. after I saw the stands, I also started to notice magazine racks that were empty, seemingly abandoned.. Guest guest
You can email alex to attain instructions on how to make these veggie newstands available in your neighborhood.Jessica I no longer use language that accepts the current concept of animals as property, commodities and/or things. Rather than refer to myself or others as "owners" of animals we share our lives with, I now refer to myself and others as "guardians" of our animal friends and to animals as "he" or "she" rather than "it." Guardians do not buy or sell animals; instead they rescue and adopt. I urge you to do the same.>"Tammy" <t >"Thavamuni Alagu" <thavamuni,,<flomanovil,"Gabe Quash" <gabequash >RE: public newspaper stands for free vegetarian info >Sun, 11 Jul 2004 09:24:16 -0700 > > > Last week I happened to go to Herbivore restaurant with > > my friend (the one close to Mission and 21st st) -- I noticed > > that there was a free magazine stand with lot of vegetarian > > starter kit booklets. > >There are quite a few of these stands around SF that Nora Kramer and Gabe >Quash have established. Guest guest
Hi Veggie-People, The newspaper stand project has been great. There are now 8 stands throughout San Francisco. People take an average of 100 Vegetarian Starter Guides a week.... from each stand! Since March, we have already given out over 7,000 Vegetarian Guides!! PETA is looking to put a few more in the city and in other places in the Bay Area. Please contact me if you are interested. Thanks, Gabe Quash www.vegvideo.org , " Jessica Thomas " <jmt226@h...> wrote: >
