Paris: I am sending out a vegan alert regarding a Trader Joe's soymilk product called Soy Divine. The packaging says it's vegan, but, due to some investigative pressure from me, Kerry Bromberg at TJ's customer relations snail mailed me a letter stating that there was an error in manufacturing of this "vegan" soymilk. I noticed that the long list of ingredients listed vitamin D3. This has almost always been an animal source of the vitamin. It is a derivative of lanolin from sheep's wool. A few days after I called him, he sent me a letter "apologizing for any misunderstanding that this matter may have caused". He said they hope to have the problem corrected shortly. The biggest problem is that he said that they are going to "sell through the small inventory that they have and will be reformulating it with D2". A note to all vegans: Do not consume the Trader Joe's Soy Divine, but instead return it to Trader Joe's explaining why you will not use it. I sincerely hope no one has consumed any of this product. Sorry for the bad news.
