Guest guest
Hi all, I need help with a dilemma I've been puzzling over. The latest issue of VegNews has a recipe for vegan pumpkin cheesecake, but it calls for using powdered sugar. Seems to me there is no way to know whether powdered sugar is vegan or not, for the same reason as with regular white sugar - no labelling about processing is required, so we can't tell if it's sifted through bone chard or not. Rainbow Grocery here in San Francisco doesn't even carry powdered sugar (or at least I didn't find it in the bulk section or the baking supplies section; I didn't ask any staff). Can anyone advise me on this? I'm figuring on just leaving off the powdered sugar, but I'm curious to know if any of you can comment. Thank you, Janice
Guest guest
There is a vegan powdered sugar, from Hain. Rainbow carries it but moves it around - last time I checked it was on the endcap of the first aisle (where the sale items usually are, near the applesauces). http://www.veganessentials.com/catalog/hain-organic-powdered-sugar.htm You can also try making powdered sugar yourself: http://www.veganchef.com/veganpowder.htm -Kim On Mon, 6 Dec 2004 gata wrote: > Hi all, > > I need help with a dilemma I've been puzzling over. > The latest issue of VegNews has a recipe for vegan > pumpkin cheesecake, but it calls for using powdered > sugar.
