Guest guest
Dear All, These clowns really blew it. See the link below and my response that follows...Clyde <r wrote: http://www.consumerfreedom.com/news_detail.cfm/headline/2343Your campaign against PETA is misguided. They are not against helping humans; they are for equal treatment for all species. The reality is that animal testing is not only unethical (did we ask the animals if we could torture or kill them ? [by the way we are animals too-check your basic biology books]) but it nets data that is either useless or misleading (and often the data is skewed as each species has it's own unique DNA and bio-chemistry). You folks really dropped the ball here and have just alienated millions of intelligent people with your negative attacks on PETA. Now the tables will turn against your ignorance as I am seeing a widespread backlash in response to your bashing of PETA. You've now lost all credibility with myself and millions of educated consumers. What a shame. Dave in Silicon Valley
Guest guest
Good response, David. However, Consumer Freedom won't care one bit about the facts - they are only interested in protecting the substantial but unethical profitability of harmful products and services. "Consumer Freedom" (laughable name, by the way) is a front group for meat-based restaurants, tobacco and alcohol companies, biomedical research companies, furriers, and others, which attempts to discredit those who speak out against their kinds of products. Therefore, by its very nature it is trying to work against facts and truth. It angers me that they publish such lies about Peta, but they have no real teeth and will not affect people's opinions to any measurable degree. -Mike Borgdavid pearl <mrpearl67 wrote: Dear All, These clowns really blew it. Guest guest
You don't need to read much on their site to see how they twist stories and manipulate language to scare the uninformed. Do a search on their site for " genetically improved " and you'll get 10 pages of results-approximately 200 articles. Then search for " genetically modified and the number or articles is half of that. Yep, they're paid for and brought to you by Monsanto, Tyson, and Perdue as well as several other animal hostile businesses as shown below. They'll continue to bash any entity that is anti-agribusiness, anti-gmo, pro-animal rights or pro organic (and that only scratches the surface). Interestingly enough, one of their contributors in 2002 was Dean Foods. Dean now owns White wave (makers of Silk and other soy products) and Horizon Organics. I don't know if they still contribute to this group, but if they do...well, do the math. -Rob Pre-2001 Contributions: 4 B's Restaurants $200 Advantica Restaurant Group $10,000 Armour-Swift Eckrich $5,000 Bestfoods Foodservice $1,250 Buca, Inc. $500 Carlson Hospitality Worldwide $1,000 Chart House Enterprises $2,500 Comarco Products $2,000 Country Kitchen International $1,000 Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. $1,500 Louise's Trattoria $500 Max & Erma's Restaurants, Inc. $2,500 Ruby Tuesday, Inc. $500 Ruth's Chris Steak House, Inc. $1,000 Standard Meat $17,500 Trinchero Family Estates $10,000 2001 Contributions: Anton's Airfoods, Inc. $3,000 Applebee's International, Inc. $15,000 Cameron Mitchell Restaurants $1,250 Campagna-Turano Bakery, Inc. $500 Casual Restaurant Concepts $3,300 Coca-Cola Company $200,000 Coldwater Seafood $15,000 Crystal's International $252 Custom Cuts $1,500 Daisy Brand $1,000 Excel/Cargill $100,000 Fired Up $6,000 Hatfield Quality Meats $33,700 HMS Host Corporation $50,000 Jeff's Gourmet Pies $1,000 John R.
