Guest guest
Greetings Scott: The GSA has a contact page that lists the national office, ways to contact local councils and an email form that has a special check box for things to do with sale of the cookies: http://www.girlscouts.org/contact/ Hope this helps! Guest guest
I just did a search for " vegan girl scout cookies " and found this link to what looks like a peta forum. http://216.197.111.89/public/folder_view.cfm?pageid=341 & option=view_thread & posti\ d=1082109 & folderid=5338 I would also see if there are any numbers on the cookie packages that you could call. As a former girl scout, I know that they arent so aware of food allergies or vegans, so maybe theres a way that we can let them know that it would be much appreciated to nix the unneccessary animal ingredients. --- Scott <scott wrote: > > I recently discoverd that the Tagalongs are no > longer vegan. Guest guest
Actually, I refuse to buy Girl Scout cookies or support them in any way since they made the press several years ago for teaching the girls how to skin an animal. I think that may have been just one troop in the mid-west somewhere but never-the-less, the Girl Scout administrators refused to step in and stop the unnecessary activity. Between no vegan options and cruelty to animals, the Girl Scouts don't get one penny of my hard-earned money. Guest guest
The Girl Scouts use two different bakeries for their cookies. I'm not sure which bakery our troops here in the Bay Area use, but it wouldn't be difficult to find some girls selling cookies (they're on every block these days!) and just look at the side of one of their boxes. " ABC/Interbake " has two flavors that are vegan: Iced Berry Piñatas and Reduced Fat Lemon Pastry Cremes. http://www.girlscoutcookiesabc.com/ The other company is " Little Brownie Bakers " and none of their cookies are vegan. http://www.littlebrowniebakers.com/ Update: there is a box of Thin Mints in my office's kitchen, provided by " Little Brownie Bakers " , so maybe that's the Northern California distributor? Anyway, LBB doesn't make the two vegan flavors, so you wouldn't have to worry about getting a non-vegan box of Reduced Fat Lemon Pastry Cremes or Iced Berry Piñatas. -Kim, formerly troop 595 :-) On Mon, 7 Mar 2005, amelia tetterton wrote: > I just did a search for " vegan girl scout cookies " and > found this link to what looks like a peta forum. > http://216.197.111.89/public/folder_view.cfm?pageid=341 & option=view_thread & posti\ d=1082109 & folderid=5338 > I would also see if there are any numbers on the > cookie packages that you could call. Guest guest
Perhaps as we are each approached to buy them in front of the grocery stores or wherever...we can politely educate the girls (and momswith: "I am very sorry, I would love to buy them but I'm afraid you do not have cookies that don't have eggs or dairy in them. Can you do me a favor? can you tell your suppliers that you would like them to make their cookies without hurting animals or using ingredients that are also unhealthy for us. I know they will be just as good. YOu can go to this website and learn more about how to bake without eggs or dairy www.milksucks.com ". Emphasize even if they did have one or 2 options that you are not comfortable with supporting an organization that uses any of these animal-products at all. This will be an educational window for all.Parisamelia tetterton <evolve1383 wrote: I just did a search for "vegan girl scout cookies" andfound this link to what looks like a peta forum.http://216.197.111.89/public/folder_view.cfm?pageid=341 & option=view_thread & postid=1082109 & folderid=5338I would also see if there are any numbers on thecookie packages that you could call.
