Guest guest
An estimated 30 to 60 million buffalo once roamed the North American continent, but only about 4,000 of these unique creatures survive today and their future is far from certain. Since 1985, the state of Montana has slaughtered 3,922 wild and free roaming buffalo using taxpayer funds provided by federal and state agencies. Every fall, winter and spring when Buffalo migrate into Montana or even near the border, the Montana Department of Livestock, the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks haze, capture and slaughter the Buffalo. For the last eight years, over 2,200 volunteers from every state and many countries have stood with the Buffalo Field Campaign to save these endangered animals. Now activists Julia Butterfly Hill and John Trudell are helping to raise awareness of the buffalos' plight by hosting two special Bay Area presentations. Please join them and the Buffalo Field Campaign team for these IDA co-sponsored educational events that will include lecture, video, poetry and storytelling.
