Guest guest
Forwarded by Mike Rolland ASAIRS Administrator and information coordinator http://members.aol.com/animalsav =================================================== JudithMyers (Judith Myers) (PLEASE CROSSPOST) Below are two pieces run in " The River Front Times " , a local St. Louis Newspaper. They discuss the issue of bestiality and how it is legal in MO, and further tell about a local animal welfare lobby group (MAAL) trying to introduce a bill to make this act illegal in Missouri. The articles further states how Missouri Legislators are avoiding to sponsor this proposed bill due to its nature. Here are links to the online articles: http://www.rftstl.com/issues/1999-12-15/ray.html?elink http://www.rftstl.com/issues/1999-12-15/news2.html?elink I urge people to contact Missouri Legislators and reference these articles and ask they why Bestiality is still legal in MO and urge them to help make it illegal by sponsoring and passing a bill to do so. This page has the contact info for Missouri Legislators including email addresses: http://www.house.state.mo.us/home.htm You can also reference the HSUS's page outlining bestiality laws in the United States and ask them to be the 25th state to have laws making bestiality illegal. The HSUS's pages on this is at: http://www.hsus.org/current/sexabuse_intro.html http://www.hsus.org/current/state_laws.html Furthermore, if you reside outside of Missouri you can also contact the Tourist Bureau and inform them that due to the lack of legislation on this issue, you will not visit Missouri in the future until legislation is enacted to outlaw Bestiality. And that you would be afraid to travel through the state with your pet due to this act being legal. A link to the Division of Tourism in Missouri can be found on this page: http://www.piperinfo.com/state/slmo.html A long with links to other State Officials, Counties, Cities, etc. Besides the state tourism division, the main tourist areas in Missouri would be the cities of Branson, St. Louis, Kansas City and Hannibal (all of which should have their own tourist offices) Please help make the Act of Bestiality Illegal in Missouri. Thank You, Judy and Greg Myers *********************************************** (EXAMPLE LETTER TO LEGISLATORS) Dear __________, I have recently read two recent online articles in the River Front Times, a St. Louis Based Newspaper, and was appalled to find out that Bestiality is still legal in your state. These articles stated that no legislators, as of that date, wanted to sponsor a Bill proposed by the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation to make Bestiality Illegal in Missouri. They even quoted a legislator stating " He would not touch hat with a ten foot pole " . If 24 other states have a law making this illegal, why doesn't Missouri? The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has deemed zoophilia/bestiality (sexual abuse to animals) a serious issue to address. If they can take this disgusting act seriously, why don't legislators in Missouri. Would you think differently if you caught someone in your backyard having sex with (raping) your pet? Remember, Missouri is now internationally known as the Bestiality State due to such shows as the banned Jerry Springer Show titled " I Married My Horse " and a recent documentary in the UK titled " Animal Passions " , both of which featured a man named Mark Mathews (real name George Willard) who resided in Carl Junction, MO until his recent death. George openly kept his Horse Pixel in his trailer and said she was his wife, and even boasted world-wide how having sex with her was legal in Missouri and no one could do anything about it. There are many others like George in Missouri, please help make this illegal in your State!! (**If You Live Outside of MO, you can include something on these lines: I further will not travel to or visit your state while Bestiality still remains legal and I will encourage others to do the same.**) Thank You, (your name here) P.S.
