Guest guest
For full background on the hunt, see Sea Shepherd, www.seashepherd.org, or www.stopwhalekill.org Those in Seattle are urged to attend the public hearing on this important matter. It's rare for NMFS to hold public hearings but they're under heavy court scrutiny to produce a " waterproof " document. Dian ***************************** The FR notice announcing the availability of the " Draft Environmental Assessment on Issuing a Quota to the Makah Indian Tribe for a Subsistence Hunt on Gray Whales for the Years 2001 and 2002 " filed yesterday and will publish in the Federal Register on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. You can view the draft EA and today's NMFS press release at: http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/prot_res/PR2/Conservation_and_Recovery_Program/maka h_DEA.html Comments on the draft EA should be submitted by February 16, 2000. A public hearing will be held in Seattle, Washington on February 1st. Additional details on the public hearing are available in today's press release and in the Federal Register notice (which will be posted on the website above upon publication).
