Dear Friend , As we have predicted PRESIDENT CLINTON DID NOT IMPOSE TRADE SANCTIONS AGAINST JAPANESE UNCONTROLLABLE KILLING OF WHALES and DOLPHINS.( please see references # 1) Between August and September , 2000, Japan caught 90 whales which including two endangered species : 42 Bryde whales and 5 sperm whales on North Pacific Ocean . They smiled and returned with it's trophy of human's triumph over the nature. While their dirty mouths was still full of WHALE MEAT , again, they started to kill thousands of dolphins (from October to April annually) while the whole world had not yet finished its condemning on Japan's previous killing of whales. According to recent Environmental Investigation Agency revealed that Japan has killed more than 400,000 dolphins and other small cetaceans over the last 20 years. Well , now Japanese with one hand still dripping blood stabbing the crying dolphins with spike , the other hand again launched another whale killing expedition , aiming a fleet at waters off South Pacific Ocean near Antarctica on November 17, 2000 to kill another nearly 550 minke whales right now ! We have urged you to write to President Clinton many times in the past . This time, we have different approaches . Now , we must depend on OURSELVES instead of relying on politicians completely. The effect will be much stronger than politicians empty bluffing. Japan is not afraid of " any " politician or " any " country's threats. Because they think they are one of the strongest economic powers on earth. (because they think they are too strong economically to accept other politicians advice.) However, Japan is afraid of real action from small " consumers " who has the real power to influence Japanese economy. This will come from small individuals including you and I. Japan is an Island Economy, they must depend on its strong " EXPORT " to survive ! That is their " NECK " !!! We have following TWO approaches for all whales concerned citizens : 1: Write to the new Japanese Minster of Agriculture & Fishery and also to its Prime Minister. 2: Campaign at Japanese NEW CAR dealers at your neighborhood. Now, lets address these two important campaigns : ------------------------ 1: Write to the New Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries , Minister Yoshio Yatsu (see reference # 2). It seems he is a strong politician and also interested in Environmental issues. The sample letter can be categorized in the following three major points to him . Please urge new Minister to act on the following two points (a. & b.) (your letter need to be polite, short & clear) : SAMPLE LETTER TO JAPAN : (The letter to Prime Minister , Minster of Agriculture & Fishery and also to the Ambassador of Japan in Washington DC. ) (Please address to the right person correctly !!!) Dear Prime Minister , We sincerely request you , Please a: STOP JAPANESE ANNUAL RUTHLESS KILLING OF NEARLY 600 WHALES INCLUDING ENDANGERED SPECIES : The pain inflicted on hundreds of whales each year killed is excruciating pain and slow death. Japan is supposed to be one of the most civilized country But Japan acts so barbarically and so cruelly in killing whales regardless of any HUMANITY . Sperm and Byrde whales killed this year(2000) by Japan are ENDANGERED species. Some 11,046 plants and animals risk disappearing forever, according to the most comprehensive analysis of global conservation ever undertaken, the World Conservation Union's 2000 Red List of Threatened Species. The report, examined some 18,000 species and subspecies around the globe. b: STOP JAPANESE ANNUAL KILLING OF THOUSANDS OF DOLPHINS AND COASTAL CETACEAN : Japan is steadily hunting its coastal cetacean populations to extinction. By 1995, a single species -- Dall's porpoise -- was being taken at a rate of 17,000 per year. Hundreds of boats are licensed to kill, and they have severely depleted , in sequence, populations of striped dolphins, pilot whales, beaked whales, and Dall's porpoise. The crossbow and hand harpoon fishery kills 10,000-15,000 dolphins and porpoises annually. The drive fisheries, annually killing 1,000-2,000 dolphins, are driven by the dolphin captivity industry, which pays fishermen up to $30,000 each for a few live dolphins for aquariums and amusement parks, with the rest of the captured pods consigned to slaughter. The hunts take place every year between October and April. Again, the cruelty and pain inflicted on dolphins are immense and gross. Dolphins usually cry and scream on the beach when the knife stabbing on their soft body by Japanese fisherman. If Japane continue to be so cruel to kill whales and dolphins, we will have no choice but to advise all of our friends, neighbors, members to stop buying Japanese new cars as well as all other Japanese commercial products including all of the Agriculture products imported from Japan. After briefly explaining to some customers that Japan kills more than 500 " whales " each year and another 17,000 dolphins a year , we easily persuaded 5 customers to stop buying Japanese new cars in just one hour. Each new car worths $18,000 to $35,000 US dollars !!! Instead, we advised them to buy other better alternative cars. (we remind them: Japan, Norway, Russia, Denmark kill whales). At the same time, we also urged the Japanese car dealers to urge their Japanese car SUPPLIERS to put pressure on Japanese Government to stop killing whales and dolphins. Dear friend, it is the time for all of us to spend an hour or so each week to be outside of our neighborhood Japanese NEW CAR selling center on weekend if you can to distribute fliers A sample Flier is ENCLOSED at the end of this email : The key points and purpose to distribute your fliers are : a. Also hand a flier to the store manager and explain to him that you are peacefully protesting on Japanese new cars because of Japan killing whales uncontrollably.
