HB 756 - The Safe Egg & Laying Hen Protection Act has been assigned

to the Illinois House Agriculture Committee.

 

The Bill would ban the inhumane practice of forced molting. This

practice by the industry weakens the immune systems of the choices

and thus causes a real health threat to consumers by increasing the

likelihood that eggs will contain Salmonella enteritidis [se] - FOOD

POISONING - and other diseases.

 

Because of this we are viewing this as a consumer protection Bill and

we are seeking to get the Bill moved to the House Consumer Protection

Committee which is chaired by the sponsor of HB 756, State

Representative John Fritchey.

 

Please immediately call the members of the House Rules Committee and

the Democratic & Republican Leaders to request that they move HB 756

to the Consumer Protection Committee. Tell them that as a consumer

you are concerned about this issue for you and your family, and that

moving the Bill would place it in the proper committee to address the

consumer & health related concerns.
