I'm writing you regarding the cruel festival " Farra do Boi " .

I respectfully urge you to take immediate action and abide by the

decision of the Supreme Tribunal Federal to ban the Farra do Boi.

Please issue an official ban of these events and protect the

animals in the state of Santa Catarina.

 

The holy day tradition involves the population of each of the little

coastal towns and villages, that exults in spending the whole day

beating to death an ox with knives, stones, sticks and piercing objects

of all sorts. In greatest joy, they break its bones,pierce its eyes, and

don't even let him be killed by some merciful soldier.

 

Exhausted, tortured and suffering, they " comfort " him, by giving him

SALT water to drink.

 

This terrible embarrassment has been posted on the Internet for the

whole world to see. People in Brazil as well as my friends and

associates are astonished by the lack of respect for the law. Your

support is needed.

 

With your immediate action, police forces will have the power to prevent

future animal sacrifices including those expected to take place at

Easter time. A European tourist, who had the misfortune to be in Santa

Catarina during Good Friday, 1993, has written, " For God's sake, I saw

it with my eyes and I still think it was a nightmare. I have lived

through two world wars and never saw such horror. "

 

Upon your order to stop Farra do Boi events, I and others, with a

concern for animals, will be free to make tourist visits to Santa

Catarina without the fear of witnessing deliberate animal cruelty, and

without supporting those that do.

 

I also urge you to arrest the people that have tortured a horse to

death, last year. This is cruelty and according to the Federal law

number 9605/98, torture animals is CRIME. It's outrageous that violent

people like the 7 man that cowardly killed that horse, are not in jail.

 

Thank you very much for your prompt action to protect the animals of

your state. We, from all over the world are waiting for your positive

decision on this very serious matter.

Je vous écris au sujet du cruel festival " Farra do Boi " . Je vous

encourage respectueusement d' agir immédiatement et de vous soumettre à

la décision du Suprême Tribunal Fédéral de mettre hors la loi le Farra

do Boi. Je vous prie d' interdire officiellement de tels évènements et

de protéger les animaux dans l' état de Santa Catarina.

 

La tradition de la Semaine Sainte met en cause la population des petites

villes et villages côtiers qui en vient à passer la journée entière à

battre à mort un boeuf à coups de couteaux, de pierres, de bâtons et d'

objets perçants de tout genre. En pleine allégresse, ils lui brisent les

os, lui crèvent les yeux et ne permettent pas qu' un soldat charitable

l' achève.Exténué, torturé et souffrant, ils le " confortent " en lui

donnant de l'eau SALÉE à boire.

 

Cet affreux et honteux spectacle a été montré sur l' Internet pour que

le monde entier le voie. Les gens au Brésil ainsi que mes amis et

associés sont surpris par l' absence de respect pour la loi. Votre

soutien est nécessaire.

 

Grâce à votre action immédiate, les forces de police auront le pouvoir

d'empêcher le sacrifice futur d' animaux, y compris ceux qui doivent

avoir lieu au moment de Pâques. Un touriste européen qui eut l'

infortune de se trouver à Santa Catarina le Vendredi Saint 1993 a écrit

" Pour l'amour de Dieu, je l' ai vu de mes yeux et je crois encore à un

cauchemar. J'ai vécu deux guerres mondiales et je n' ai jamais vu

pareille horreur. "

 

Dès votre ordre d' arrêter les spectacles de Farra do Boi moi-même et

d'autres qui se préoccupent d' animaux pourrons visiter Santa Catarina

en touristes sans craindre d' être témoins de cruauté délibérée contre

des animaux et sans appuyer de notre présence ceux qui s'y livrent.

 

Je vous encourage également d' arrêter ceux qui ont torturé un cheval à

mort l'an dernier. Cela est de la cruauté et selon la loi Fédérale

numéro 9605/98 la torture d' animaux est un CRIME. Il est scandaleux

que des individus violents comme les 7 qui ont lâchement tué ce cheval

ne soient pas en prison.

 

Nous vous remercions beaucoup pour la prompte action que vous pourrez

entreprendre pour protéger les animaux de votre état. Nous, dans le

monde entier attendons votre action positive concernant ce sujet

extrêmement sérieux.
