ABC PRIME TIME LIVE TONIGHT

SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL.

WRITE TO DECISION MAKERS ON

ENDANGERED SPECIES PROTECTION TODAY !!!

Dear Caring Friend ,

The Government claimed that it doesn't have enough resources to

fulfill all of its obligations to protect endangered species under the

Endangered Species Act (ESA), the Bush administration wants to

BLOCK ANY FURTHER COURT ORDERS REGARDING

ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT LISTINGS !!!

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dept. of the Interior (DOI) continues to have the

time and resources to review and hand out ESA exemptions to

wealthy U.S. trophy hunters who want to import threatened species

into the country. Please watch tonight's ABC PRIME TIME .

(please see the enclosed release from HumaneLine at the end of this email).

CAMPAIGN ON ENDANGERED SPECIES PROTECTION:

While many federal conservation programs remain strapped for cash,

the government is willing to hand out millions of dollars in subsidies to

select interest groups. According to Forest Guardians, Federal Agency

Hands Out $237 Million in 1990's to Cattle Ranchers While Conservation

Programs Languish Due to Lack of Funds.

Further, President Bush is greatly slashing the funding for Enviroment and

Endangered species. YOu may click the following :

http://www.nwf.org/news/environmentalprotectionslashed.html

Not long ago under Bush Administration, it was allowed for only

Seven (7) millions dollars for Endangered Species funding to

Interior Department. According to some of the Wildlife conservation

groups, it really needs at least 100 million dollars a year for the

protection of Endangered Species.

If you have time, you may read the following article:

(KILLING RARE ANIMALS IN ORDER TO SAVE THEM !)

For now, let's just send a few important REQUESTS to the Congress,

President , Interior Department and EPA , BLM and Congress :

The KEY POINTS in your short letter : (letter keep it short, BE POLITE !!!)

1: First of all, please let them know that : You are a CONSTITUENT

of the UNITED STATES . At end of your letter sign your name,

address , city, state and zip .

2: PLEASE GREATLY INCREASE FUNDING FOR ENDANGERED

SPECIES AND THREATENED SPECIES. AND GREATLY

DECREASE THE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR CATTLE RANCHERS.

3: PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK ANY COURT ORDERS REGARDING

ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT LISTINGS .

4: PLEASE STOP CATTLE RANCHERS GRAZING ON ANY OF

THE PUBLIC LAND: Because it leads to the local extinction of wildlife

The more than 100 research papers cited in the review found that

livestock grazing reduced water quality, increased sedimentation,

altered stream hydrology, compacted and disturbed riparian soils,

denuded streambanks, reduced spawning rates and survival of salmon

and other cold-water fish, and led to the local extinction of

wildlife.

[hsus-action] Special Humanelines Alert

HUMANElines

A project of The Humane Society of the United States

and The Fund for Animals(202)955-3668 humanelines

Special Alert

Tonight (04/19/01), ABC's Prime Time Live is slated to air a major

investigative piece on the Safari Club International (SCI), an

organization which promotes competitive trophy hunting across the U.S. and

throughout the world.

SCI's 29 " Hunting Achievement " awards, such as " Cats of the World " and

" Introduced Trophy Animals of North America, " compel patronage of " canned

hunting " facilities in the U.S. and trophy hunting of rare animals across

the globe - from African elephants to polar bears to Argali sheep.

Just this week, The HSUS, The Fund for Animals and other organizations

sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for granting wealthy U.S. trophy

hunters hundreds of import permits for sport-hunted, endangered Argali

sheep trophies from three Asian countries.

The Prime Time Live piece airs at 10 p.m. in the Eastern and Pacific time

zones. Check your local listings for broadcast time confirmation.

THANKS FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR ANIMALS--TODAY!

One more urgent ALERT in this email:

-

Mlwspider (@aol.com )

Monday, April 16, 2001 5:13 PM

Subject:

FAX/CALL to NEW JUDGE on Clear Channel Comm Animal Cruelty.

Court Date : April 23, 2001 , you may contact

the sender of this alert. thanks.

Judge Herbert J. Baumann Jr.

813-272-6879

813-276-8015 (FAX)

801 E. Twiggs Street

Room 317

Tampa, FL 33602

U.S.A.

Dear Judge Baumann:

I am writing regarding the case involving 98 Rock and charges of animal

cruelty. This letter is an attempt to urge you to exercise your full power

to send a message that cruelty to animals will not be ignored and that the

law will be strongly enforced.

By failing to punish those responsible, we will be sending the message to

the children of our society, that it is okay to torture and kill animals in

any way adults deem fit, as long as the presiding judge does not hold them

responsible for their actions.

I will be following this case closely and eagerly awaiting a conviction. It

is for the sanctity of life that I am begging you to prosecute all involved

to the fullest extent of the law.

Respectfully,

Name,

Address,

City, State, zip.
