HUMANE SLAUGHTER ACT

PART ONE

Dear Caring friend ,

The Humane Slaughter Act is NOT enforced !

From some of the local slaughter houses, they carelessly revealed that

they never even have any " stunning " equipment at all to render the

animals into " unconsciousness " before dismembering the animals .

Even if some of them have the stunning equipment , it is old and futile

..

Therefore, the atrocities in the slaughterhouses are widespread in this

country. They dismember animals alive, skin and scald them alive too.

Please, let's all work hard to push the Humane Slaughter Act to be

enforced. It is not only the cruelty in IBP slaughterhouse but also the

cruelty all over the nation. The Prosecutor in Washington State " REFUSED "

to prosecute the IBP company. The Meat industry has connections

with people from top to bottom, from the US Congress down to the

Department of Agriculture and the State level.

We also urge you to make private visits to your local slaughterhouses

if you can to see how they kill thousands of animals a day.

Unite with many of your local animal rights groups in your State and

write a Complaint report to Senate Agriculture Committee, Judiciary

Committee, Ethics Committee. Also bring it up to your State Agriculture

Committee and Justice Committee as well as local media too.

For this most important issue, we would like to divide into a couple of

emails for the things you can help. This Part One includes two steps :

STEP A: Send a Thanks notes to Senator Fitzgerald.

STEP B: Send this most important letter to the Senate Leaders

as well as the entire U.S. Senate.

YOU MUST REMEMBER SIGN YOUR NAME, YOUR ADDRESS

IN ALL CONTACTS, EMAILS, LETTERS !!!

Thanks so much for your caring, kindness and urgent help.

STEP A:

Please , let's send a " Thank you " letter to Senator Fitzgerald

to initiate a bill " S. Con. Res. 45 " to urge the USDA to strengthen

enforcement of the Humane Slaughter Act of 1958 and to prevent the

needless suffering of animals: It would be better you can CALL

or send a FAX to him. To make a phone CALL to him is

highly recommended in this case.

Senator Peter Fitzgerald

555 Dirksen Senate Office Building

Washington, DC 20510

Tel: 202-224-2854 (in USA )

EMAIL:

senator_fitzgerald (@fitzgerald.senate.gov )

STEP B: This is going to be a very important letter to Congress :

SAMPLE LETTER :

FROM: Your name,

Your address,

City, State, zip.

SUBJECT:

1: Please SUPPORT and CO-SPONSOR S. Con. Res. 45 bill.

To strengthen enforcement of the Humane Slaughter Act of 1958.

2: Please increase the funding for animals slaughtering Inspection

in all of the more than 6000 slaughterhouses nationwide to insure

that the Humane Slaughter Act is really enforced.

Dear Senator ,

In light of the recent many articles addressing the Human Slaughter Act

not being enforced, I'm urging you to SUPPORT and CO-SPONSOR the

" S. Con. Res. 45 " introduced by Senator Peter Fitzgerald which urges

the USDA to strengthen enforcement of the Humane Slaughter Act of 1958.

I also urge you to greatly increase the funding urgently needed for

Inspection of animals slaughtering in all of the 6000 slaughterhouses

nationwide.

(Please review References # 1, " They Die Piece by Piece " and

the important Reference # 4 , " Slaughterhouse " by Gail Eisnitz.

and Reference # 3 )

The Humane Slaughter Act is not enforced. It is a widespread daily

national tragedy. Many of the local area slaughterhouses have been

revealing that they never even had any " stunning " device at all. They

said they simply chop the animals heads off while they are completely

conscious. Some say that the stunning machine is old and useless and

it is not enough to completely render animals unconscious

before skining and dismembering the animals.

All of the State's anti animal cruelty laws purposely exclude the

farm animals ( " food animals " ) cruelty. However, each year in the U.S.

alone, there are TEN BILLIONS (10 billions) of food animals are

slaughtered , which represents more than 90 % of all animals in the

United States. There are more than six thousand (6000) slaughterhouses

in the U.S. (see References # 2 )

" Most of our inspectors have little to no access to those areas of the

plants where animals are being handled and slaughtered. The most

brutal of these violations were caused by ineffective stunning -- causing

cattle to be dismembered and hogs to be scalded while still conscious. "

said Arthur Hughes, President of the National Joint Council of Food

Inspection Locals in the recent interview.

Dave Carney, an USDA meat Inspector for nearly two decades in

both red meat and poultry plants and was Chairman of the National

Joint Council of Food Inspection Locals, signed Affidavits and stated

in 1998 when interviewed with the most recognized Slaughterhouse

Expert Gail Eisnitz (see Reference # 4 ) :

" There is problem with enforcing Humane Slaughter Act. That's

because these large slaughtering operations are primarily concerned

with productivity and Profits. They are not even killing animals.

They are " disassembling " them. To keep production line moving fast,

uncooperative animals are beaten, they have prods poked in their

faces and up their rectums, they have bones broken and eyeballs

poked out... Some animals are simply beaten to death... Some

even reach various stages of the slaughtering process alive. They

have their hooves cut off, parts of their bung and their cavities

opened ......The inspectors are required to enforce humane

regulations on 'paper' only. The Inspectors I talk to are from

all over the country, it is an everyday occurrence clear across

the United States. It occurs in swine. It occurs in beef.

It occurs in calves. Sheep. All species ! The Humane Slaughter

Act is a regulation on paper only. It is not being enforced. " .

(see Reference # 4 )

According to the most recent reports , the killing rate has been pushed

between 260 cattle to 309 cattle PER HOUR on the assembly killing line

in the large slaughterhouses . The KILLING LINE never stops because

it may affect the company's " production " rate of converting sentient

animals to meat patty ! The workers complained to the outside that the

company does not even give them enough " time " to " kill " . Therefore,

they have no choice but to dismember animals alive ! The US meat

industry has been committing the most sadistic, unimaginable atrocities

and animal cruelty nationwide in its daily operating activities.

(see Reference # 1, # 5)

The current " Humane Slaughter Act " is not only " Not Enforced "

but also has long become the " Cover Up " for the meat industry.

The Agriculture Committee in the U.S. Congress has been pushing the

" production " for the meat industry's profits very greatly while they are

also supposed to protect the nation's each year Ten Billions of

sentient, unfortunate " food animals " to prevent the atrocities in more

than 6000 slaughterhouses in U.S. These two primary functions are

in fact truly conflicting of interests to be handled by the same

Committee in the U.S. Congress. Most often times, the Agriculture

Committee in US Congress simply neglects billions of animals pain and

suffering despite the public outcry and plea ! The conflict of

interests has been the darkest page in the US Congress.

Also while the USDA is promoting for meat industry's profits, it is

also supposed to enforce the Humane Slaughter Act. Again, the conflict

interests exists greatly in USDA too. Many of the USDA officers went

to work for the meat industry after they retire from USDA. The USDA

had long become the extension for the American meat industry.

Nearly all of the USDA high officers in the meat Inspection section

defend for meat industry at all times. They deny any cruelty existing in

any of the slaughterhouses so that it would not jeopardize their future

consulting job in the meat industry ! To overhaul the meat Inspection

section in USDA is very long overdue. (Please review References # 4).

Lately, it is even more difficult to enforce the Humane Slaughter Act

due to the budget cut in the Slaughterhouse inspections while

the Congress is continuously funding for meat industry's profits.

As a very concerned Constituent, I'm strongly urging the Congress

to immediately increase the funding for the Slaughtering Inspection.

Again, I urge you to SUPPORT and CO-SPONSOR

the S. Con. Res. 45 introduced by Senator Peter Fitzgerald.

Thanks.

Sincerely,
