Guest guest
The action alerts below include one for Cypress Foods. I was one of many dedicated volunteers/rescuers involved in this case (a first hand account of the condition of these farms and the animals taken out can be found on my AR bulletin board linked in my signature line. The 3 part post is entitled " Cypress Foods " ). *PLEASE* send a letter to prosecutor Bernie McCabe requesting justice for the horrific cruelty that took place on these farms. 1 MILLION hens died of starvation, their cries for food were ignored. Our letters can serve as their voice, this time we can ensure that they will be heard! Kristina ----- " In the long run it is the cumulative effect that matters. One can do much. And one and one and one and one can move mountains. " ~ Joan Ward-Harris Take action in a Pro-AR/AA/AW environment! Action-For-Animals Bulletin Board http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/136051 Hello Kristina, HELP PROSECUTE CYPRESS FOODS FOR STARVING 1 MILLION ANIMALS Earlier this year, Cypress Foods starved 1 million hens at egg factories in Florida and Georgia--causing intolerable suffering and leading to the birds' deaths. Farm Sanctuary is urging authorities to prosecute Cypress Foods for its wanton disregard for animal welfare. Our attorney, Paul Rebein, has prepared a 58-page document with compelling legal analysis and evidence urging the state's prosecutor, Bernie McCabe, to actively pursue the case. Rebein writes: " Upwards of 1 million chickens were starved at facilities owned by Cypress Foods in Georgia and Florida. If prosecuted, this will be a landmark case. If not, it will be an infamous injustice. " Please write to Bernie McCabe and encourage him to prosecute Cypress Foods to the fullest extent of the law: Prosecutor Bernie McCabe 14250 14th St. North, Room 1000 Clearwater, FL 33762 For more information, see http://www.farmsanctuary.org/campaign/c_cypress.htm ROSA--SAFE AT FARM SANCTUARY Rosa the rabbit was rescued from a horrendous neglect case in which she was left inside a tiny, filthy cage because she had grown too big for the door. When Rosa was discovered by Animal Control officers, the cage wire had grown into her back and she had to be cut free. The wire left severe wounds across her back that required months of treatment. Today, Rosa is living happily with the other rabbits at Farm Sanctuary. Rosa is looking for loving " adoptive parents " to provide for her care at Farm Sanctuary. The Florida ballot initiative that would ban gestation crates -- crates that keep mother pigs immobilized for nearly all four years of their lives-- is in jeopardy of not making the November 2002 ballot. Only two weeks remain in which to gather the 60,000 REMAINING signatures required to put the initiative on the ballot, and sponsors have donated transportation and housing for volunteers to come down to Florida and help gather those signatures! If you're going to the AR2002 conference in DC (www.animalrights2002.org), this would be a great opportunity to extend your trip for the animals, and fly from DC down to Florida with other activists for the Fourth of July weekend to be a part of this groundbreaking initiative!
