URGENT, Support S. 1046 To Overturn new FCC Media Rules.

 

Dear Caring friend,

 

On June 19, the Senate Commerce Committee will decide

whether or not to send a bill (S. 1046) to the Senate floor

overturning a number of the media ownership rules passed by

the FCC on June 2 . The Commerce Committee in the House

of Representatives is considering a similar measure.

 

It is vital that both commerce committees, House and Senate,

send their bills to the floor. The legislation up for a vote in

Committee is S.1046 - introduced by a bipartisan group of

Senators. It rolls back an important provision of the recent

FCC decision - the broadcast ownership cap limit that gave

media moguls even more power than they have today.

 

There is also an important amendment sponsored by Senators

Dorgan and Snowe that reinstates newspaper/broadcast

cross-ownership restrictions. Please let's keep the the pressure

on the Commerce Committee and the Senate.
