shameful “Charity Bullfight” | ANIMAL launches international

protest campaign

Despite the phone contacts that ANIMAL

tried to establish to prevent it, the Portuguese League Against Cancer insists

in raising funds from the coward torture of animals that will happen in this

“Charity Bullfight”

 

About a week ago, the International

Movement Against Bullfights launched the alert: the Portuguese League Against Cancer is promoting

a Charity Bullfight for next Saturday (26th February), in a

small town called Coruche, in the Southern region of Portugal. With this Charity

Bullfight, the Portuguese League Against Cancer (which is the biggest and most important charity

working against cancer in Portugal)

intends to raise money for its work against cancer. In order to prevent that

such an important institution, with such an important role and mission, got

involved with the brutal torture of bulls and horses that happens in

bullfights, ANIMAL made several

phone calls and tried, by various means, to contact the Board of this

institution, to explain them that it is not acceptable to raise funds for

charity – and, more specifically, to fight cancer – based on the

infliction of brutal pain and suffering to bulls and horses in bullfights. Our

phone calls and contact efforts were never answered nor returned and, at this point, everything is set for this Charity

Bullfight to happen next Saturday.

 

We need your help to prevent this bullfight from happening! Please write to the Portuguese League Against Cancer and urge this institution to cancel its plans for this (or

any other) bullfight, explaining to them that the torture of animals is not an

acceptable fund-raising method for charities and that a “charity

bullfight” is a shameful idea that should immediately be forgotten.
