Guest guest
Julie, have you been following the London whale? I just hope they havent left it too late...I looked at my Atlas, looks like about 90ks from Battersea bridge to the open sea, and if they let him go there he can still beach himself, theyd have to transfer him to another craft to take him further out, and he might stress out before then... Prayers needed
Guest guest
Hi Jilly, I think that beaching him\herself isn't the major problem, what about all the pollution its been living it while its been swimming around in the Thames? Have you noticed there have been more strandings of dolphins & whales and more shark attacks than ever?
Guest guest
The New York Times reported thatthe whale died as marine specialists escorted it on a barge down the Thames toward the sea, the British Divers Marine Life Rescue group said Saturday night. Rescuers initially planned to release the whale into the open sea, but had warned that its health was uncertain and it might attempt to beach itself even if set free.Hours later, rescuers said, the animal died aboard the barge after its breathing became erratic. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/22/international/europe/22whale.html I wonder what brought it into the river? Guest guest
It makes you wonder if it would have been ok if they just didn't interfere. Shepharding it out would have been enough!
Guest guest
Hi Julie, yes im sure the pollution added to the whales demise, also the sound thing, he couldnt hear anything, thats why he got lost, all that blasted noise, from the river, from the City, that poor boy didnt know what or where he was, then the humans took too long to get him out of there, I agree with that lady who said that certain whales dive down deep into the ocean, and if they beach they dont last more than about 24 hours. I dont know if i agree about there being more shark attacks, we do get great whites off the coast, I think the people who swim or surf, live with that risk..I wouldnt think there have been more attacks, there has been more chuming (boats taking tourists out, throwing blood and stuff out to attrackt sharks) thus bringing them closer to shore,.Now they have watchers, looking out over the sea, as soon as they see a shark, they radio in and anyone in the sea is brought in..the sea is so cold, goodness knows why anyones out there anyway... I live about 2 hours as the crow flys from cape town up the west coast, we havent seen whales for about a year but about a week ago, we took the dogs for a walk at Pearl bay and watched lots of seals leaping and playing just off the rocks. You know, if you go into the sea you take that chance, you are in the sharks territory, if you get out of your vehicle in the kruger park you take that chance, you are in the buffaloes territory, never mind a Lion.. they are pussy cats compared with buffalo Id far rather face a Lion than a Buffalo.. Oh i miss the bush jill - Julie Saturday, January 21, 2006 11:12 PM Re: Londons Whale Hi Jilly, I think that beaching him\herself isn't the major problem, what about all the pollution its been living it while its beenswimming around in the Thames? Guest guest
World news reports said a second, larger whale was spotted in the Thames Estuary off Southend-on-Sea, possibly a relative of the Thames whale. This is really such a sad mess. Karen , " Julie " <julez_m2004> wrote: > > It makes you wonder if it would have been ok if they just didn't > interfere.
