Guest guest
Humans kill in excess of 100 million sharks a year. Most species of shark are not dangerous to humans. As shark fin is seen as a delicacy, usually only the fins are taken and the shark is tossed back to die a slow, painful death [as it can't swim without its fins] Pledge to Save Sharks and support the listing of the porbeagle shark and the spiny dogfish on CITES! In Sharkwater, we find out the truth that sharks are not man-eating monsters and that killing them for their fins is a genuine threat to our oceans. Pledge to save sharks. Your pledge will make a difference. http://www.sharkwater.com/pledge_to_save_sharks.aspPetition to the European Commission to Save Sharkshttp://www.sharktrust.org/petitions/?rootid=6246 & toptab=8 Petition to Establish a Global Ban on Shark Finninghttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/345265363Stop Shark Finning -send an emailhttp://www.sharklife.co.za/index.asp?Content=125 Tell UK supermarkets to stop selling endangered fish http://www.bite-back.com/campaigns/campaigns.htm#top
Guest guest
Sharks have and undeserved reputation, not helped by films like Jaws, and by paranoia in the tabloid press about 'man-eaters' off the coast of Cornwall!
Guest guest
Yes, Ang. Peter Benchley, who wrote 'Jaws', was horrified at the way sharks got persecuted after the film adaptation of his book. I kinda hope a great white isn't seen off the English coast, as we'll get a load of sickos trying to kill it, so as to get their ugly mugs plastered all over the media.
