This is a great chance for letters to the editor about teaching compassion and also about the cruelty that all animals on factory farms are subjected to. The castration would not be/is not OK just because the kids don't see it when it's conducted on millions of pigs around the country, and if people don't like it or wouldn't want to be part of castrating animals themselves, they shouldn't support it with their dollars every time they eat meat.
