Guest guest
YUM As many of you know, Pizza Plaza in Oakland recently stopped selling meat--this is a very big deal, and they lost customers b/c of it. Vegetarian restaurants can only make it if vegetarians support them--we have to do more than just demand veg food, we have to then buy it when it's offered! They are on Shattuck at the Berkeley/Oakland border. Easy street parking. Very clean place, absolutely scrumptious pizza. They now have a website: http://veganplaza.com/Home_Page.html The Greek Goddess and " Chicken " Florentine are to die for, but check out the full vegan menu before you take my word for it. They offer free delivery and 10% off if you order 7 or more pizzas. They have vegan garlic breads and salads and " cheese " breads and desserts. I paid $24 for a large Greek Goddess pizza and it was more than enough for two of us--and we are two very big eaters. Even if you don't like fake meat or vegan cheese, consider buying a Pizza Plaza vegan pizza for your non-vegan friends to both give them a good vegan experience, and to support a restaurant that actually stopped selling meat. I've heard of a lot of veg places that started to sell meat, to make more money, but I've never heard of a meat place going veg! Guest guest
I was there today and the pesto pizza was my favorite. I bought the pizza for a lacto intolerant friend and a veggie friend and they both thought it was great. While I was waiting for my pizza a vegan couple from Fremont was there having a pizza. == Is anyone interested in organizing a pizza party there? It would be great to order 7 different pizzas and we all try various flavors. (don't forget the 10% for 7 or more pizzas) == hmmmm, I'm wondering, if the pizza will still taste good without the vegan cheese. I felt the crust and toppings/sauce were very moist. http://veganplaza.com/Home_Page.html by the way, if you don't know already, the owner is a vegetarian sign, Winnie , " Alex Bury " <AlexB wrote: > > YUM > > As many of you know, Pizza Plaza in Oakland recently stopped selling > meat--this is a very big deal, and they lost customers b/c of it. > Vegetarian restaurants can only make it if vegetarians support them-- we > have to do more than just demand veg food, we have to then buy it when > it's offered! > >> http://veganplaza.com/Home_Page.html >

I'm not sure how well that would work -- it looks like mostly a carryout place to me -- but I'd be up for it, and my house is a few blocks away if folks wanted to get some delivered and hang out here.
