serious neglect & trauma/please help Rocket Dog to save this

dogs life!

Hello all-

I recently sent out an email about some dogs that we saved that had

suffered extreme trauma and serious injury. Rocket Dog Rescue is known

for saving these dogs, so it is pretty common for us to have at least a

handful of dogs that need special care or are disabled in some way. I

hardly ever reach out for help unless it is really necessary. below is

the story and photos of one of these dogs.

We just saved a dog from a shelter and we are desperate for your help..

I pulled this little bearded collie mix because he was to be put down,

but he is still in need of a major surgery to save his life.

I also have no foster home for him to recuperate after his surgery.

I am asking for your help please (PLEASE) if you are able.. or pass

this email on to co-workers or friends who may want to help.

This dog was named " Little G " by the previous owners. he had been hit

by a car, but the injury was left untreated, the family did not have

the funds to care for him.

When it because apparent the Little G was in serious need of veterinary

care, his people dropped him at the shelter in hopes that his medical

needs would be covered. of course, the shelter does not have the funds

to provide surgery for a dog with trauma like this, so little G was

slated for euthanasia.

I was walking through the shelter and happened across him. as I looked

at him, and read the notes on his story .. I just felt like I could not

leave him there. This little dog, even though young (about 1 1/2 years)

had already been though so much - I just felt like he had never been

given the chance at a happy and safe life, and now he was hurt, in

pain, and left behind by those he loved.

It was apparent, even before he was hit by a car, that this dog had

been seriously neglected, the photo attached was from the day he was

brought into the shelter: (little.g.shelter.bmp)

The shelter needed to shave him just to examine his injuries, he was

matted and covered in filth.

The day I met him at the shelter, he was sitting in the back of his

kennel, shaking and terrified. Im sure he was in terrible pain, his hip

has been smashed in 2 places, according to the x-rays done at the

shelter. When I would go near him he would shake harder and drool. just

scared to death, really.

As a rescue group we save all breeds, all ages, all sorts of wonderful

and sweet dogs. and we also save the terrified and forgotten. I could

not leave him. I changed his named from Little G, to Grommet.

I know Grommet sounds a little silly, but he needed a new name for a

new future, and after his hair cut, I felt that it fit him:

Grommet is saved - out of the shelter. I picked him up yesterday and

drove him to our vet's office to be placed on heavy pain medication

while waiting for his surgery. Our group was unprepared for a major

surgery like this.. we will get the surgery done, but will need your

help to raise the funds!!

he will need a foster home with out stairs and with lots of love and

patience to provide care for him after surgery- are you able to open

your heart and home to this dog? I also think that he will need some

training and social skills, I will ask trainers to donate services to

help.

This dog has been dealt a bad hand by those who were caring for him up

to now. please help Rocket Dog give him the chance at a brighter

future.

Any donations can be made to our " Special needs " fund, and will go to

save Grommet's life-

Please keep in touch, and let me know if you are willing to provide

care for Grommet or possibly may want to adopt him- that would be

better yet!

We are all volunteers, and are supported completely with donations, we

are not funded in any way- every donation, big or small, will make a

difference. We cannot save these dogs with out your help.

Thank you SO much!
