Guest guest
Are scientists really trying to grow meat in a lab now? Read their logic and let me know what you think! http://www.treehugger.com2007/06/dutch_scientist_1.php This is what i think... This makes me want to take the final step and move to some jungle on some island somewhere where they dont have farms or labs or commercials about Viagra. The intent is made to sound good, and sadly the point makes sense only WITHIN the context of today's nonsensical/insane society at large. how can we even rationalize anything anymore when the worlds gone mad? - Joelle Katcher
Guest guest
I think this came up earlier on this list. The question to ask is: are you a veg*an for ethical reasons (i.e. you don't want to cause suffering to other sentient beings), or are you a veg*an for health reasons (i.e. you don't want to eat animal products for whatever reason)? (You could be for bother reasons too). Let us assume, for the sake of this argument, that somehow " meat " can be grown in a lab (on a rather large petridish, from a single cell). In other words, you can get " meat " without causing any suffering to any animal. Now would an ethical veg*an have a problem with eating this " meat " ? I know I'd have a problem because I just don't like the taste/texture of meat. But I am sure there are people who wouldn't mind products made from this lab-grown " meat " . Think about it this way: if this lab-grown meat somehow eliminates the need to slaughter the millions of animals who slaughtered each year for meat, is that a bad thing? Guest guest
I would absolutely not eat it: 1) Health reasons: since it would be a duplicate of animals cells, we would still do damage to our body which by nature is vegan, see article by Dr. Anita Misra: http://www.sssbiotic.com/content/human_article.asp 2) Ethical reasons. We are supposedly the greatest of creation in this planet, as such we have the responsibility to take care of our little brothers, the animals and try to duplicate meat would undermine our efforts. I was born in Ecuador, in the Amazon jungle up until around 30 years ago were some natives that used to eat their enemies. I wonder what would be their answer if the mad scientist duplicate human meat for their consumption and offer them that kind of meat. Would their answer be the same? As we go through our evolution in consciousness, our diets becomes a lot less poison, and we need to eat foods that are less to do with animals, and lighter in nature (less cooked, etc). The fruits and nuts being the highest in octane. red meat -> white meat -> fish -> raw vegetables -> fruits and nuts -> (water -> air -> sun)? In our world we have all kinds of people, including those that only live with fruits and nuts and reportedly there are few that lived with water and sun only such as the German catholic nun Newman. What do we want in our diet? I prefer those that get us closer to the sun such as the fruits. Peace Rafael
