Guest guest
Hi, I know of someone who's tried various methods to get rid of a gopher who's gotten fat eating all the vegetables in his organic garden, but he hasn't had much luck. He's started using gopher traps, although the gopher so far has been too smart to fall for (into) them. Can anyone suggest an effective cruelty-free way to deal with this? And what to do with the gopher after live-trapping it? Thanks, Thoi
Guest guest
The truly cruelty-free way to deal with this is to let the gopher live and eat where he is now, and plan better for the next planting season (use wire to protect the vegetables, etc.). When I use to garden extensively (tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, melons, onions, garlic, nectarines, apricots, grapes, etc), I took abit of a laissez-faire approach. I just planted extra. The extra was to allow the birds and the insects and whomever else to eat what they wanted and I had the rest.Anyways, this question has come up at least twice before (maybe as recently as the last 6 months).
