Guest guest
Some of you may have read the Chronicle article a few weeks ago about the poisoning of feral cats in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. One of the cats rescued from the area, Vinnie, a nice friendly cat, was taken in by Lana Bajsel, who has been feeding and caring for the cats in that area. Lana runs GiveMeShelter, a local cat rescue group which takes many, many cats off the euthanasia list at local shelters and gets them adopted into good homes. Unfortunately Vinnie managed to get out into Lana's backyard, went into a neighbor's yard, and was mauled by the neighbor's dog. Vinnie has been at S. F. Veterinary Specialists for several days now, and is on oxygen and being treated intensively. The bill is already up to $2500 and not only are GiveMeShelter's funds now exhausted, but Lana has also used all of her own personal funds for Vinnie's care. Can you help with a large or small donation toward Vinnie's care? If so, please call S.F. Vet Specialists at 415/401-9200, press " O " to get to someone at the front desk, and tell them you want to help with a donation for Lana Bajsel's account. You can either use your credit card over the phone, or you can go to their facility in person to contribute. Any donation will help, but the need is URGENT!! If you need more info, please call Lana at 415/810-7284. Please forward this to anyone else who might be able to help. On Vinnie's behalf, THANK YOU for caring!! Guest guest
Here's a heartening update on Vinnie, the poisoned feral cat who was rescued by Lana Bajsel (GiveMeShelter) and is now recuperating from being mauled at SF Veterinary Specialists. I just called and Vinnie's bill is down to about $250 - just this last bit and his bill will be paid. And they say he's doing well - so he's on the road to recovery! Guest guest
Another update on Vinnie: even though it's still questionable whether his lungs are going to heal or not, the doctors insisted that Lana (who is a vet tech) take Vinnie home, where she is continuing the medications, and fluids if necessary. He does have to go back to the hospital next week for follow-up, including x-rays, so unfortunately there will be more expenses involved. So if you are still considering a donation to Lana's account for Vinnie, you can still donate by calling S.F. Vet Specialists. Vinnie is calm and this morning he ate two big bowls of food, so we're hoping for the best! Since Vinnie has basically depleted the funds that GiveMeShelter had, any further donations would be greatly appreciated. Those donations are completely tax-deductible if made directly to GiveMeShelter. You can go to their website, www.givemesheltersf.org, and donate via PayPal or send a check to PO Box 411013, San Francisco, CA 94141. Since GiveMeShelter is constantly rescuing cats from the euthanasia lists at other shelters, funds are always needed to cover the basics for all these cats (food, medications, doctor's appointments if necessary). GiveMeShelter is a 100% volunteer-run organization, so ALL donations are used for the cats. Thanks, everyone! Nadine
