Guest guest
Remember, Bay Area Vegetarians has a team in this Saturday's walk -- "Animals are Friends, not Food". So far, we have raised $1,160 -- all funds go to Farm Sanctuary Please join us by walking or please sponsor someone else who is walking. You can join our team or sponsor a walker online at http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1910 & TeamId=29457 & EventId=17945 Farm Sanctuary is a national, non-profit animal protection organization. Each year they rescue, rehabilitate and provide lifelong care for hundreds of animals rescued from factory farms, stockyards and slaughterhouses. In addition to operating the shelters, we work to gain legal protection for animals used in food production and to raise public awareness about factory farm cruelty and cruelty-free alternatives. Yes, we're just a few days away!!! Are you ready to put on your walking shoes and do some walkin' for the animals?this Saturday, October 13thRegistration Time: 10amWalk Time: 11amLocation: In front of the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. Our table will be setup along the sidewalk on the north side. Contact: Bud MakelkePhone: 415.577.0766Email: sanfrancisco Bring your friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, the mailman...even your meat-eater friends. All that is required is that they fill out this registration form and bring a $10 check (per person) made out to Farm Sanctuary - or you can bring cash. Let's make this year's Walk the biggest one yet! You are welcome to bring your well behaved dogs (leashed, of course). Note: on the Ferry Building Marketplace website, it states that it is illegal to bring your dog into the marketplace itself or the Farmers Market. Exceptions: Guide Dog for the Blind / Signal Dog for the Deaf / Service Dog for the Disabled or Handicapped. The sidewalk is fine. For those fun-creative types; make a banner or a float if you'd like. Here's a PHOTO of the Walk's very first float from last year. For banner ideas; here's a photo of one of my banners from two years ago. For those of you who raise more than $150 in pledges, your names will be entered in a raffle for some great prizes! Tip: if you have a Firstgiving.org fundraising page setup online, send out one more email with a link to your page reminding your friends & family that this weekend is the weekend that you've committed yourself to the animals; the BILLIONS of animals who don't have a voice and that are raised in horrible, inhumane conditions and slaughtered each year at factory farms all over America. Remind them of how easy it is to donate on the Firstgiving site, how extremely secure it is and and that their donation is tax deductible! You'll be surprised at how much more money you'll raise the week of any event.Directions/map to the Ferry Building HEREParking map HEREWalk route HEREPhotos from the 2006 Walk for Farm Animals HEREOr you can go to the San Francisco WFFA website HERE for more details.
