Guest guest
All: It is great to see all these posts on protest for animal rights and findings homes for animals. What i've not seen is anyone talking about the oil spill in the bay yesterday, and how this 58,000 gallon of oil will impact all animals along the cost. How does one Volunteer to help with the rescue of birds/etc that is impacted by this? Does anyone have any info they can provide to me? If you see oiled wildlife: Don't approach or pick it up, but call (877) 823-6926 to report it. Please do not call this number about volunteering. Guest guest
An update to this - OWCN are accepting volunteers now: " If you want to volunteer: Please call the volunteer hotline, (800) 228-4544. " However, the line was busy when I last tried it. Guest guest
Here's another site to get information about the spill's effects on local waters & animals. http://www.baykeeper.org To offer to help with injured wildlife or in other ways, contact volunteer From their site: " It is important that citizens do not go out with a towel or box to capture oiled animals, which could further injure the animal and subject people to hazardous materials present in fuel. If you find an injured bird, call the Oiled Wildlife Care Network at 1-877-823-6926. " Best, Phoenix
