Guest guest
I think this is a new product. If it's not--if you all have been drinking it in secret behind my back--I won't ever forgive you. http://www.silksoymilk.com/Products/SilkSoymilkRefrigerated.aspx Scroll down to " Specialty Flavors, " Silk Mocha. It's like coffee ice cream. Silk soymilk, coffee, chocolate--all together. Amazing! Now there is truly no excuse to not be vegan! Next, please pick up your phone and call your local Whole Foods to order the new vegan turkey from Garden Protein: http://www.peta.org/feat-newveganturkey.asp Yesterday I went to WF Sacramento to pick some up, and they were giving out samples. I took a bite and immediately had to sit down on the floor and cry, right there in the store. That wasn't as embarrassing as it sounds because everyone else who tried it was also sobbing on the floor. You MUST get some of this, and PLEASE serve it to carnivores! I think we should pass a new law, that you can't be a member of Veg*n World unless you serve this new food to four meat-eaters. The deli manager was there at the sample table and he was telling people to skip the real turkey and try the new Garden Protein, because the veg option was better tasting! It really is great. Unfortunately, after glimpsing heaven with my sample bite, I then went to buy some and they had just run out. Of course I sat down and cried again. It's selling really well which is great for veg food, but it means you should call ahead and order yours. Last but not least, Tammy reminded me that I've been meaning to share my recent experiences at Green's restaurant. I always thought of Green's as a dairy-heavy, old-fashioned veg restaurant. Pretty views but stuffy and not very exciting food. Well, I have been blessed this past year with a dear friend who takes me there about once a month--and it is amazing. It is one of my favorite veg restaurants now. It's not my #1, simply b/c it's not vegan and it is too expensive to eat there all the time (for my non-profit budget, it's not that outrageous). But for a special occasion or a date: Green's is #1. The menu is much more vegan-friendly than before (more than 50%), and the staff know exactly how to take care of their vegan diners. The service is perfect. The dining room and views are gorgeous. Parking is easy. And the food is fresh, wonderful, scrumptious. Gourmet, but not as fussy as Millennium. Organic. Yes, it's more expensive than Golden Era or Herbivore, but well worth what they charge. I think it's the (secret) best veg restaurant we have in San Francisco right now. Green's also has a great to-go counter. It's easy and fun to get pre-made salads and soups to eat in Ft. Mason. They'll even let you buy a to-go cup of soup and sit in the empty dining room to eat if, if you're there when the regular restaurant is closed. So if you have a VIP date coming up, or out-of-town family visiting, I would suggest giving Green's a try if you haven't been there in a while. Now I will go find out what happens when you use Silk Mocha as your coffee creamer--thus adding coffee to coffee--is that exciting or what?
