Guest guest
Hello All, I may be traveling to Vancouver in a month and would very much appreciate any ideas about veg friendly places to eat! Accommodation ideas would be great as well. I would be attending a conference at the Four Seasons Hotel at 791 West Georgia Street, so it would be preferable to be close to that location but not necessary as I could take a taxi. And of course if anyone knows of any great spots to hit while I’m there.... Guest guest
Cybrena and All, I haven't been to Vancouver since 1986, but, if you get a chance to take a side trip to Victoria, they have a wonderful all vegan buffet restaurant called Green Cuisine. I also suggest that you check happycow.net for restaurant ideas; I know Vancouver has places. Best wishes. Guest guest
Hi Cybrena, When we've been in Vancouver we've stayed at the Metropolitan-really great accommodations and less than a block from the Four Seasons. Our favorite Vancouver restaurant was an all veggie place in Chinatown that had become non-veggie last time we were there so that's no longer an option :-(. A lot of people consider The Naam one of the best in town, but I don't remember it being so extraordinary. Capers Community Market on Robson St. is about a 15-20 minute walk from the four seasons and has lots of great vegan items in their deli, plus smoothies and hot drinks. The single best meal I had anywhere in Vancouver was their "Big Yummy" smoothie. If you like peanut butter, you'll want to try it. (I've even managed to recreate it back here at home.) Also on Robson St., Mondo Gelato has great vegan soy gelato if you're into the decadent stuff. Other great places to check out: Stanley park is a great place to just walk and wander for most of a day. If you have time, hop on a ferry to Victoria. It's a beautiful city with lots of veg restaurants. Our favorites were Rebar and Lotus Pond. Hope this helps. -Robcybrena <cybrenabay area vegetarians ; south bay veggies Saturday, January 26, 2008 10:23:38 AM Vegan Vancouver Canada? Guest guest
Cybrena, Rob, and All, Just to let you know. I was in Victoria in September of 2006, and Rebar is no longer a vegetarian restaurant. Not too many vegan items either. Lotus Pond was good. But I liked Green Cuisine the best. Just FYI.
