Jewish holiday vegetarian recipes needed

Last year I wasn't a vegan (or a vegetarian) during the fall Jewish

holidays. I made chicken matzo ball soup, brisket, roasted chicken,

gefilte fish, and an assortment of side dishes that are made every

year.

This year I'm hosting a number of people, and would like to show that

we can still have delicious Jewish holiday foods, and it can be

vegan. I've figured out the matzo ball soup, and some good sides, but

I need that " main " dish where everyone's used to seeing brisket or

chicken.

Any suggestions for that " main " holiday dish for Rosh Hashana?

Preferably something that can be warming in the oven while we're having

soup. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi Michelle,

Congratulations on becoming vegan!

During the holidays, I like to serve Tofurky. It is a roast that is vegan, that is cooked in the oven, surrounded by yummy veggies. It is really delicious. You can find Tofurky at Whole Foods, Rainbow Foods, and Trader Joe's, usually around Thanksgiving time.

Dear Michelle and List,

I suggest you register for the "Veggie Jews." VeggieJews/ The site has many files of recipes, and regularly addresses issue relevant to being a vegan Jew.
